'38 Hud 8 grille emblem, hood ornament
-
Looking for a hood ornament for '38 Hudson 8. Also info on the grille emblem: Was it enameled (cloisonne like) similar to the several years preceding '38? What color(s)? White background with blue "8", or ... ? A decent photo would be a big help, as would the name of a good restorer of these emblems.

Park, Superb restoration of radiator emblems is done by Karla Maxwell, 1130 Cypress Drive, Vista, CA 92084-7215. I don't have her phone number. I have an emblem she did for a 1927 Hudson Super Six, and it would be difficult to ever find a nicer one. Her work is concours quality. Dee -
Thanks for that contact, Dee. I'll check with her and see if she has some sort of reference that would show what that emblem looks like.

Park,
I am told that the emblem is long and somewhat slim, sort of like the 1939 one, and that the colors are red and blue. The colors are painted, not cloisonne. Dee -
Park ,
I could post a scan of the relevant black & white pages from Walter Harris's book on HET Mascots, Hood Ornaments & Trademarks if that would help.Dave Y
New Zealand -
Thanks, Dave, but I know generally what the emblem is like. The problem is that the few of them out there are typically bare metal now (brass?), so I don't know how it should be restored to look. Would really love to see a photo of an original that still has the paint on it.

These two cars were sitting side by side at the National in Spokane. As I look at the photo's today I am thinking one is a 37 and one is a 38. I marked all the photo's as 38 so this might not be that much help...
