Video Carlisle, Pa. Hudson Meet 1972

Great little video... wish the camera was of better quality, but fun to see no matter what.

Most of us get to a car meet and take photos of the cars. What we should be doing is taking pictures of the PEOPLE. This is a great old movie but with one or two exceptions there are no close-up, recognizable shots of people. Oh well, something is better than nothing, and kudos to Mr. Royer for posting it on U-Tube.
I recognized Pete and Meadie Sanders' two-tone '37 convertible but no other cars. Possible that circa-1920 touring car belonged to Leroy Anderson (his son Lee still has it, I believe). Maybe someone will recognize some other cars. This appears to have been taken at the old Indian Motor Lodge which later became the Best Western and is now the Howard Johnsons motel. Until a very few years ago, it was the rallying point for H-E-T'ers who were attending the Hershey car show about 35 miles east of there. We've now moved to the Quality Inn, 3 or 4 doors down the street. -
I recognize the young man giving the peace sign at the end of the video. It is me 38 years ago! I believe I have aged more than any of those old Hudsons. I also can spot Thelma Daugherty standing in the grass and of course my mother, Ruth Royer, near the beginning wearing a yellow mum. It brings back great memories of our times going to meets with our parents. Because of our parents involvement and their love of this club, I got to see a lot of this country. Thanks Lee for posting this video.

I tried to improve my video of the 72 Carlisle meet. Since it was filmed in super 8, I can't improve picture quality. Text has been added to identify some people and cars. As my brother Bill pointed out, our family's connection to the HET Club provided us with many good experiences and an opportunity to meet and become friends with many good people. Two of them identified on this film were "Doc" and Thelma Daugherty.

Thanks for your input Paul. I edited the clip again with new information in an effort to make it more relevant to club members.
