Well, I think you're on the right board.
I would say a 1938 Nash Sedan.
You can always go to the AACA website and post it on the "What's this" board.

Will you be attempting to locate your grandfathers car?

It's my pleasure, to share the photo and the story with all the enthusiasts of those years' american cars. My Grandfather had also a Packard (1939) in '40s -'50s and a Chevrolet ( Made in Poland 1939) in '70s-'80s.
I didn't think to find out if this car still exists in Romania, but it is an interesting idea. However I have no knowledge of a Nash Lafayette sedan 1937, serial 3718 being in Romania.

That would be something if it still exsisted.
A neighbor friend's grandmother used to take us kids to Griffith Park in her Packard ariound 1951-52. It was about the same era as your grandfathers Packard. It had the fold down jump seats and a roll down divider window between the driver and passengers. Just the things kids love to play with.
I did not know Chevy made cars in Poland. That is interesting.
I only remember two vehicles my grandfather had. A 1950 Cadillac and 1951 Ford PU. The first vehicle I drove was grandpa's PU. I was about 12 and he let me drive it around in his orchard. I would bump up and down and weave around the trees on the rough field in granny low gear. Well, I also had my first accident. I bumped into one of the trees. No damage. Just my pride. Ha Ha
Have a good day. Lee -

Hello again!
You related your story very beautifully and humorously. I remember I was about 13 years old when I wanted to make the engine crank start, the car being in the first speed gearbox coupled. I put the crank in, I made half a rotation, and the engine started. The car was going towards me,I tried to stop it, entering into, but I had no time to access the clutch, and the car entered into a wall, after passing by four meters. There was no damage but as a child I feared a little. This time it is about a IMS 57 (photo) a Romanian car that my grandfather owned. IMS 57 ( 1957)
(details and photo here http://www.retromobil.ro/m461/ims57.html)
having a Ford "A" second generation engine. I remember this engine had side valves and an easy engine crank start.
Have a nice day too! -

Sometimes I think that Google is downright insidious. I googled "1937 Nash Lafayette" looking for more pictures only to find that they already had the picture that we're talking about at the beginning of this thread:
