grill parts for 49 stepdown
-
On Ebay there are several 5/8 inch wide and 22 inch long pieces of grill moulding for a 49 Hudson. The rounded moulding at the bottom of the front fender also happens to be 5/8 inch wide. Does anyone know if these things are similar enough that the grill pieces could be modified to be used to replace missing moulding at the bottom of the fender?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Ed, Yes they're the same outside dimensions on the face of it. BUT they will not interchange. The grill pieces have a lip about a 1/16" wide to accept a flathead fastener for the front grill plenum. The stainless paint mold trim on the bottom of your door has a very tiny lip to allow it to snap onto the retainer. I suppose you could devise a way to shave off the excess lip on the grill trim and make it work or modify the retainer on the door but you might just want to stick to just finding the right pieces. good luck in any event.
