interior fabric 1951 super six
-
Hi Im new to this forum. but was raised in a hudson as a kid and am currently restoring my dad's 1951 super 6 coupe. I sent some fabric samples off to SMS to have the fabric reproduced. That was about 6 mo ago. They just told me yesterday that my samples were not that good. Is there anyone out there that might have a really good swatch of the fabric used on that model? or where I could possibly go for fabric already made up? My dad passed away almost 2 years ago and I would like to really make this car nice in his honor. thanks for any help you could lend. 817-781-7141

Welcome to the Forum!
SMS is probably the best source, so let's hope someone jumps in here and offers you a swatch perhaps taken from "somewhere where the sun doesn't shine" so it won't be worn or faded. 1951 was a popular year, so it's good that you're getting them to repro this fabric, 'cause I'd expect there'd be a demand for it. (By the way, you're sure that the fabric now in the car, wasn't an aftermarket fabric used during a reupholstery sometime in the past....right?) -
Thanks for your response, yes, I WAS ABLE TO FIND AN ORIGINAL SALES BOOKLET AND IT LOOKS IDENTICAL TO WHAT IS IN THE CAR.
