What other cars do you have besides a Hudson?
-
1915 model 'T' touring,27 Chrysler '50', 26 Hudson Brougham (the current project),36 Hudson 8, 37 Terr. coupe. 53 Hornet sedan.
-
Other than my 53 Hornet... none right now. Did have a 64 Fairlane, a 77 BMW 530i, and an 82 F-150 that was pieced together from god-knows-what. Those were all my daily drivers. Finally broke down and bought a 99 pontiac when i finished paying off the hornet. I might have a line on a 57 dodge half-ton though...1953 Hornet sedan Twin-H
Custom front springs, drop-blocks out back, Clifford 6-2 headers exiting out back shotgun style, Pertronix, and Flames!
1964 Chevy C-10 Longbed, 396/TH400 lowered just enough and \"easy to touch up\" Black paint.
2003 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor
Caved in quarter and fender. Bad paint. Non-True-Trac heap. But it's paid for. -
my 51 commodore is a work in progress(lead sled)i also have a 54 chevy truck that is 90% complete.i also have a 64 impala being lowridered.i'd probably have more projects but space wont allow it,with 4 kids 2 dogs,a bird some squirrels.

Current vehicles, for "Transportation" -
- 1995 Honda Accord (180k+ miles). My commute to work vehicle
- 2003 Toyota Tundra (11K miles). My backup vehicle & light hauling
- 2001 Mazda Tribute (50k+ miles). Wife's transportation
b](As my wife says, but she uses a different four-letter word)1946 Hudson Pickup Two tone "Blue Goose" - See Avatar above.I would rate this as a Condition #3 - a driver. There are a few blemishes, imperfections and a lot of non-original/non-standard restoration work that was done and does not show in the pictures, but clearly evident upon inspection...
1946 Hudson Pickup (Two tone Tan/brown - pending frame-off)I would rate this as a condition #4 - a "rolling project". It is in a lot worse shape than it looks. A never-finished amateur restoration, body filler, shoddy work, etc.. Truck also sat outside, in the elements, for at least a year AFTER these pictures were taken (and before I bought it)...
1939 Hudson Pickup Model 90 112" WB (still pending transport from TX...)I would rate this as a Low Condition #4 - it needs a lot of help...
-
There is no "other cars " besides Hudsons There is no "other cars " besides Hudsons . Now that said, my wife told me to stop looking at this post as I'm drooling all over the keys. Were do these boys get their Dollars. I never knew we had so many of Capone's men left alive these days. If you really want to choke on just iron, other than Hudson, Feast you eyes on this.

In my case that would be in Hudsons only, of course! And maybe the back-seat of a '52 chevy, or some other FRIENDS wheels.Bobbydamit -
G'Day
I currently a 55 Hudson Hornet Custom Sedan with 308 3spd & overdrive. It goes great guns and had it up to 100mph down hill with more to go. Being an Aussie assembled RHD, it has no options what so ever. Ive purchased a radio from the USA and that is it. What I wouldn't mind is a continental kit to fit it. Are they rare or not in the US and how much are they worth. My other car is a 66 Rambler Classic 770 Wagon with 287 V8 and auto, again it is a Aussie assembled car.
My Every day driver is a 1992 Holden VP Commodore Executive sedan. It is an Ex undercover cop (police) car. It is powered by a Holden built 308 V8 EFI engine which is rated at 180KW in power with the GM built T700 4spd Automatic. This car is a rear wheel drive car using an the optional IRS (independent rear suspension) rear setup with limited slip diff. It goes hard.
NOTE: Holden has been around since the early 20's, been with GM since the early 30's. They built bodies for all sorts of companies including the following: Hudson, Essex, Chev, Ford, Vauxhall, Buick, Pontiac and the list goes on. It was't till 1948 that Holden Built it's first car. Holden used a GM 6cyl for these cars and by early 60's came up with ist own design. 1967 saw the very first 2 door coupe by Holden called the Monaro. It came with the 6cyl as well the first V8 engine in a Holden which was the Chevvy 327 V8. By 1969 Holden Built it's first V8 of 253cu and soon after the 308 V8. Other Chev V8's were also available in 1970 including the 307 & 350 but by 74 the Chevvy engines was dropped until 1999 when the Chevvy Gen 3 Alloy V8 became available. The was the end of the only Aussie built V8. The Current Monaro is the basis of the controversal 2004-2006 Pontiac GTO.

Aw hell - I got more than 82 "old" cars - around 160 or so. Some are on display here in my computer room, but the rest are packed away due to lack of room. Oh, did I mention they are all die cast!!! LOL ROF
Hey, look at the positive side - easy to store, require no resto or maintenance (other than scraping the dust off them once in a while), minimum insurance on my home owners policy, can pack them up and take them anywhere to show off - lets see you have all that fun with full size cars!!!!) hehehehehe You're right - I can't drive them down the street - but on the other hand I don't have to worry about people running into them out on the street!!!
Hudsonly,

Rick,
I keep most of them in South Lake Tahoe, at my business locatons and in hangers at the airport, others I keep near the Bay Area in another business location. I am currently negotiating the purchase of a 40K+ warehouse near Lester and Ray in the Gardnerville-Minden area of Nevada, where I can get them all together. If you are ever in the Tahoe area contact me and I will show you. Alex is right they are a logistic nightmare, but I just can't stop, even with therapy.
John -
Sounds good John! Just from your list, you might need more than that 'Acre' of floorspace to house, maintain & restore them all. If not, you probably soon will! LOL!rustjunkey wrote:R46HudsonPU

Therapy? I thought THIS was/is therapy?!? If my pockets were deep enough, I'd probably have quite a few more than I have now - and be looking for space to put them too.
Would love to take a long look at your collection - problem is, I am on the opposite side of the country. Maybe someday... -
lookin to sell any of them? would be interrested in adding the charger R/t and the mach 1 to my collection.

Not likely, I rarely if ever sell my cars, check Ebay or Hemmings.

The sad part about my life is that someone always comes along and offers me more money than I think my car is worth and shortly they are marked "SOLD." The plan is that the three I currently have will be sold by my kids after I am gone. My wife simply smiles and says, "We will see."Brownie -

FYI
I also have a few other cars that rarely get driven after I began restoring Hudson's. My L82 Vette only has 30K mles because when racing I never had time to drive it, then when quit racing I built a Z28 Pro St that became to radical for the street and parked for yrs. It turned high 10's @ 128 with borrowed slicks at a 'Fun Run'. I also have a Custom Built Ford Leisure Van that is rarely used anymore, a Ford 4X4 Flareside, and a Impala LT.
When the Z28 became too radical for the Street, my Wife suggested that I restore a Hudson Pickup like we used to tow our Hudson Racer and Ive never stopped building Hudson's. Ive restored a pair of Hudson Trks, a modified Hornet powered Terraplane, and currently building a '37 Hudson Cpe. In between I built a lightened 'Stepdown' Drag Car for Vintage fun Run's coming up. Each one took about 4 yrs to build, but now retired I can be found every day in my 'Hudson Work Shop'.Corvette 1_126843587848464.JPG512 x 384 - 68KZ28 1_126843067948464.JPG704 x 528 - 63K -
I have a 1982 Collector's Edition Corvette, with 50,000 miles. They only made one per dealer. It now sits in the "Good Old Days" Car museum in Hardy,Ar.

Very impressive thread. It would be a treat to see these cars in person and have an opportunity to hear more expansive comments from those who have restored and/or preserved them. We have an assortment of Hudson's and a 1927 American LaFrance fire truck and are in the process of seeing if we can remember where all of the parts from our 52 Hornet belong as restoration continues.Bill

I had a '56 Dodge Powerwagon, now sold, and currently also have a scratch-built '56 Corvette "SR" replica, a limited edition of the '56 Corvette that had many Sebring Race car parts installed. It's powered by a .040 over 305, dual quad, and 5sp. WC T5 transmission.
