wtb: 1939 hudson backing plates
-
wondering if anyone has a pair of 1939 or compatible year front brake backing plates for my 39 coupe????
-
Have you already tried the "usual suspects" who advertise in the WTN? Like Dave Kostansek? Seems like something that shouldn't be too hard to come up with. They probably fit other years as well.
-
newer to the site so im still exploring! how do i find that lead??
-
Hello,
I have a pair of '37 Backing Plates as well as drums. I think they will fit perfectly on the spindles.
Not sure brake Shoe sizes all models were same but probably identical.
Send me PM if interested. Im not expensive... -
Looks like 3 different front backing plates used 1937-1940.
Could be later but my numbers only go to 1940.

50 Bomb, you can find some Hudson vendors by going to the H-E-T Club's homepage http://www.hetclub.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=frontpage&Itemid=1 and then selecting"RESOURCES", then "PARTS LINKS" from the "HET CLUB" drop-down menu.
If you're not yet in the Club you might want to consider membership. It makes life a whole lot easier! -
Yo, '50 Bomb' -
You don't mention what type of '39 Hudson you have, other than the year...
As Jon indicates, you may want to make use of the online club index, to contact one or more of the chapters in your area. It is likely that someone will have knowledge of parts that will fit your vehicle, the more local, the better. There may even be someone with a 'parts car' that you can salvage from (?)...
And, as always - it is a great idea to join the HET Club, which gives you access to a great publication and a lot of 'Hudson crazy' folks! -

No need to apologize! LOL A '39 CC Coupe is a NICE car. Is it a Series 93? (the first 2 numbers of the VIN denote the series number - the VIN is located on the passenger door post)
I have 11" Hornet brakes on my '39 112 coupe (Series 90). The backing plates are the same bolt pattern. But you have to mix and match the bearings to use the Hornet brake drums. You will most likely have to shim the outer bearing to achieve the proper fit.
If you can find them, the 11" brakes from the 8 cylinder cars from '37 to '39 should also fit. I believe this is a straight swap for your car.
Kevin C.
P.S. We Hudson folks would LOVE to see pictures of your car. We really don't care what condition it is in.
