Modified search string for E-Bay Parts
-
Some time ago some computer-savvy wizard developed a special string that searched E-Bay Parts and Accessories but excluded the long lists of products that are repeated and add literally hundreds of parts to the Results. I have been using that string to search but more and more of these repeats show which makes the search process time-consuming and boring.
Could the person that wrote that string bring it up to date.
I freely admit I am computer illiterate.
Thank you. -
Here's one that Rick Clark (of our group) devised recently, to filter out all that useless "one size fits all" junk that's being hawked on Ebay, supposedly for Hudsons:
http://motors.shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=%28Terraplane%2C%20Hudson%29%20-antenna%20-muffler%20-%22grab%20handle%22%20-%22tire%20cover%22%20-%22brake%20hoses%22%20-%22window%20storage%20bag%22%20-%22car%20cover%22%20-driving%20-tow%20-receiver%20-tip%20-filter%20-air%20-shackle%20-patch%20-tie%20-shaft&_trkparms=65%253A10%257C39%253A1&_sop=10&_pgn=1&_trksid=m194&ssPageName=STRK:MEFSRCHX:SRCH You should also hit the tab for AUCTIONS ONLY, that helps.
Here's a search device for Hudsons that someone devised over at AACA. It looks through Ebay, Craigslists across the country, and gosh knows what else.... http://www2.jaxed.com/cgi-bin/mash.cgi?cat=cp&itm=hudson&loc=&fil=&ys=&ye=&ps=&pe=&pgs=100&submit=++++go++++
If either or both of these work for you, you might want to bookmark them so you don't have to search for them in the future. -
Heres the one that I use that I got off the forum a while back. Cant remember who posted to give proper credit, but thanks!
Jeff
(Terraplane, Hudson) -antenna -muffler -"grab handle" -"tire cover" -"brake hoses" -"window storage bag" -"car cover" -
Sorry folks! - I'm right in the middle of the "Mid-Atlantic" (Just south of Baltimore), and we got in excess of 30" of the heavy white stuff... Lost power early on, and it was finally restored last night about 7:30 PM. We're still playing 'catch up' - and have yet to really begin 'digging out'. We're not alone in that - The county only plowed our street once, and that was BEFORE we got the last 2 feet of snow. Not really their fault, as we've got multiple trees down in the road, blocking any plowing efforts.
It is still dark outside, and very soon we'll begin doing some serious digging.
In addtion to that, I've got storm/snow damage - hopefully somewhat minor - a VERY large limb took out my workshop gate, and has also hit the HarborFreight tent/garage that my '39 is parked-in. It looks like the wooden fence I built took the majority of that 'blow', and the limb (big as a medium size tree) only hit the front part of the tent - and hopefully it didn't knock the truck off of its blocks...
I'll try to post some pictures of this in a thread under 'Discussions' a bit later.
In the meantime, here is the latest & greatest for my eBay Hudson search -
http://motors.shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=(Terraplane%2C%20Hudson)%20-antenna%20-muffler%20-%22grab%20handle%22%20-%22tire%20cover%22%20-%22brake%20hoses%22%20-%22window%20storage%20bag%22%20-%22car%20cover%22%20-driving%20-tow%20-receiver%20-tip%20-filter%20-air%20-shackle%20-patch%20-tie%20-shaft%20-%22center%20console%22%20-%22seat%20belt%22%20-%22Lighter%22&_trkparms=65%253A10%257C39%253A1&_sop=10&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_pgn=1
Be aware that many, many descriptive terms are used to exclude the mass postings. If you are looking for something specific, you might be better to modify your query to search for that specific item, such as -
(Hudson, Terraplane) antenna
http://motors.shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=%28Terraplane%2C+Hudson%29+antenna&_sacat=&_trksid=p4506.m270.l1313&_sop=10&_dmpt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&_odkw=%28Terraplane%2C+Hudson%29+antenna&_osacat=0
Or - (Hudson, Essex) hub*
(note that the * is a wildcard, which will expand your search)
http://motors.shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=%28Hudson%2C+Essex%29+hub*&_sacat=&_trksid=p4506.m270.l1313&_sop=10&_odkw=%28Hudson%2C+Essex%29+hubcap&_osacat=0
Addendum: All of these searches focus on 'eBay Motors'. Probably one of the best pointers is to change this to 'All eBay Categories' if you are looking for something in particular - many sellers mis-categorize their sales items, and you will find parts for sale EVERYWHERE on eBay... -
Thanks, Fellas--these are the cat's whiskers!!! Just what I needed.

One thing I've been finding annoying is that Guy that's been posting a string of twenty or thirty ads, under Hudson parts ,all for the same antenna !!
What's up with that? (maybe I can somehow eliminate his ads from my search queries)?

You can exclude by item description, but not by seller. Anything over 10 'sales' of the same product should be offered in a multiple type auction - report them to eBay. They should 'do something', however since they make money on these auctions, I have serious doubts about them actively enforcing their own rules/policies...One thing I've been finding annoying is that Guy that's been posting a string of twenty or thirty ads, under Hudson parts ,all for the same antenna !!

Here's the one that developed, it targets specific sellers and not parts by name.
Hudson Newly Listed
Hudson Highest First
These filter out all the car covers, bic lighters, antennas and all the other useless crap that people deem essential for an old car owner to have. Let me know if you need any refinements and I'll make them for you.
