Today is starting off to be a bad one for my son Rick. His car is parked in front of our house and someone runs into it.

I was looking at the forum when I heard the crash, and I looked out the window to see the Tahoe go by. I ran outside, expecting to get in my car to chase it down, but it pulled over and stopped. Turns out the driver is my neighbor that lives on the next block behind our house. She and her baby are ok, nobody got injured.

Every time Rick gets his 64 Chevelle ready for paint someone runs into it. Now it will need a left rear qtr panel, bumper and (frame straightened?). The 09 Tahoe will need the right side doors straighted and repainted, new running board, and right rear tire and maybe wheel.

I know Rick is going to go ballistic so I'll wait until he gets off work to tell him, so his whole day will not be ruined.

He has two Chevelles in the body shop now, because a drunk hit both of them parked in front of the house. He has been looking for a Hudson. Maybe, he will have better luck with a Hudson.

Maybe it's time to park in the driveway!

Seriously, sorry to hear about the crash. I'm glad no one was hurt.

Are you on a corner, intersection, etc..? Narrow street?

Hmmm... Possibly a 'Neighborhood Watch', targeting parked Chevelles?

Anyway - Luckily, nobody was hurt, and only Chevys damaged - nothing significant... ;) :D

No driveway. I live on a five lane street with a T alley on one side and behind the house. Buena Vist St. is one of the main through streets in the city. Like a freeway 24 - 7. Across the alley from the house is a 7-11, then the main intersection. Burbank Bl. and Buena Vista intersection has the highest number of accidents in the city of Burbank. Buena Vista has a long sweeping curve going south before the intersection, and some drivers continue the curve through the intersection, and just get to close to the cars as they pass our house. The drunks miss the curb but nail the cars.

Counting all four alleys and business driveways at this intersection, there are 36 way to make a left turn.

There is a Block Buster video store across the street. My next door neighbors car has been hit twice by someone turning left out of Block Buster. Now how does someone make a left turn, out of the parking lot ,cross 5 lanes, and still hit a parked car?

The Tahoe was making a right turn out of the alley and nailed Ricks Chevelle hard.

It would be nice to have a driveway. My 34 Chevy is in the garage. The 47 Hudson PU, 64 El Camino and 69 AMX, are on a concrete slab behind the garage. NO WAY IN THE STREET. I used to have a couple of early Chevy Caprices in the back yard but the city said I could not have cars in the back yard. When I moved them out to the steet, they were, at different times, totalled by drunk drivers while park in front of the house. One was hit so hard, it landed 60 feet onto my neighbors front lawn, inches from hitting his van in the driveway, that was just paid off.

So, if you come to visit, park on the other side of the street. There has never been an accident on that side.

HA HA HA HA HA HA!!! Will do. That was good for a good laugh. Made my day.

You would be suprised how many fools do park in front of my home and cross those five lanes to get a $2.00 video. They won't park here again if they, or their car gets hit.

Have a good day Alex. Lee

I'm still chuckling. Have to tell the wife when she gets home.

    Hi Vic

    7-11 is good.

When did you go to work for BIG BROTHER? Could not resist.

Rick wants me to build a garage. Actually, I have wanted to build a 4 car garage, but since I have been unemployed for 7 months, all projects are on hold.

I'll see you at the next CIC meeting. Lee

When you do build it, put up some tall walls, and put 'car stackers' in it! If you can't go 'out' - go up!

Know what you mean - 10+ months unemployed. Seems like nobody wants to hire the 50+ generation - have only managed to get past the 'reception desk' one time in 10 months..

Been known to collect a few Chevrolets in my time. I still keep my membership in the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America (32 Chev and 60 Elcamino) that is headquartered down near you. I have to agree, I would have you pick me up at the Airport in the 34 Chev--percentages tell me that I would have a better chance of staying alive that way?" I ended up out of work late last year. I have been looking for six months now and the pickins are slim if you are a four time looser (i.e. Safety Management job, over 65, aerospace experience and overqualified.) I did get a job "internet interview" from China that was half the pay, 60 hours a week and I had to pay my own way to get there to start the job........

My son Rick is pretty upset about his car and how it will affect his insurance. This is the 3rd car of his that has been hit in the last 8 months while parked in front of our house. The neighbor was going to pay for the damage but changed her mind and is going through her insurance co. Rick was hoping he would not have to notify his insurance co. but now he will have to. He did get an estimate that was less than he thought it would cost and there is no frame damage.

Rick - A 24 X 40 garage with tall walls is what I had in mind with one car stacker and a loft above the cars to store parts.

Brownie - At the moment neither the 34 Chevy or the 47 PU are driveable. Will the 69 AMX or 64 Elky do in its place? I've not been to VCCA headquarters, might do that some day.

I asked my wife, awhile back, which car she wanted finished first, the 34 Chevy or the 47 Hudson PU. I was surprised with here answer. She has always talked about driving the 34 Chevy to the school where she works.

Evan though the 34 is further along to being finished, her answer was the 47 Hudson PU.

Will you be going to the Laughlin Economy Run this year?

I wish you both the best in finding a good paying job. The same goes for anyone else on the forum out of work. Lee
