    oK this was a description for the engine in a Hudson for sale on E BAY





    car has the 7C 7X high performance engine 330 cubic inches





    Is 330 cubic inches correct?





    If so about how many Horse Power did this car put out??

    A 0.0625" overbore with the stock stroke on a 308 leaves you with about 318CID.

    Unless this guy bored the block 1/8" over or put a stroker crank in it, he doesn't have a 330 cube "7X". Horsepower numbers would depend on many other factors, such as intake & exhaust configuration, compression & cam specs.

    I just looked at the pictures of this car again and don't see the 7X. There's a single exhaust (from the rear view) and the head studs look normal. Am I wrong?

    Beautiful car. Seller should provide more documentation to prove the 330 cube "7X" claim though, IMHO.

    With the right combination it's possible to go up to about 355, 360 ci's on a 308. Tho by the time you overbore enough to get to 360 you got a pretty thin block.



    If I remember correctly an over bore from 13/16 to 7/8 (.875) is just about max on overbore.



    Somewhere in all this paper I got around here I have a letter from back in the 1970's a fellow sent me that gave the possible combinations and what to use. I'll try and find it.

    FYI

    Back In the '60's I bored all my Hornet motors .125 which equaled 329 cu in, or so I thought. I never had any trouble with that bore size using any gasket that was available. I think 1/2" stroke with the.125 bore equals 366 cu in.

    :) I am near 100% positive this is the car that Pete Delaqua owned. When he died the car went to his daughter and she lived up in that area of NY state. He lived in Rochester. The car was near perfect, as I remember I believe he bought it from John Soneff and drove it back from Colorado.



    After he got it back it had a few problems, one that the head gasket blew. I put a new gasket ,had the head resurfaced, etc. While I had the head off I checked bore dameter (.040 over) Checked valve diameter (7x specs) also checked valve lift against 7X specs, not exact but very close. As I recall it had the stock head on it but he had the 232 head with it. It was reported at the time he bought it that it was a documented 7X Engine, not a clone. It did not have the 7X exhaust, just the single. It did have the 1/2" studs in the engine. Look closely and I think i see a stud and nut under the air cleaner painted over so it is hard to tell for sure.. I suppose the engine could have been replaced, but don't know why it was running great at the time of his death and I am pretty sure the daughter probably didn't use the car.



    The interior is as I remember it and the A/C under the dash and the wire wheels. He drove the car alot and was not afraid to 'get into it" on occasion. I have driven the car car so I know that it ran well.

    Thanks Jim! I'm such a dope, I didn't see (or read about) the AC. I believe I can see the stud you mentioned. $37K is a little out of my price range.



    A very nice car even without the 7X. My guess is the accelarator pedal won't stick either!

    It is a very nice car. The underside is as nice as the rest. It was like that when he bought it and he kept it that way. If the engine has not been changed, it is a 7X motor. It also had the block work around the valves for better flow.
