K-Gap rubber shipment
-
Does anyone know if K-Gap received their long awaited shipment of backordered rubber products from the manufacturer. They were expecting a large shipment on Dec 10th.
I have emailed with no response and I have called several times and get a
recording but the message says the mailbox is full so I could not leave a message. The mailbox has been full at least since Saturday. -
I doubt if they have. I am waiting for parts from that same shipment.
-
I am expecting some Items as well. I am optimistic they will arrive soon ....
-
K-Gap service has sure gone down hill since the new owners took over. I've been waiting for a rear window gasket for several months now. Anybody know of another source for rubber parts? I know they use Metro as their primary vendor, but many parts are not listed on the catalog there.

Nothing specifically for Hudson here, lots of generic stuff that can be subsituted. The only other vender I know of that has specific Hudson gaskets is in MA, but as I remarked earlier, very, very  expensive.... -
I placed an order over $1500.00 Australian and Dany sent via usps. Usps delivered to my shipper for forwarding to australia outside of trading hours subsequently no one was there. Usps left a notice to arrange another delivery, I have been trying to get my parcel redelivered since Oct 6th and now the the post office doesnt know where my parcel is.
K Gap hasnt received my parcel back, WOW ! is USPS service really this bad I even had a tracking number and they cant locate. Money down the drain.
I guess I will have save up again and re-order. -
Yes, the USPS can be a real joke!! I too had an order from Kgap and was waiting and waiting. It said that it had been delivered. After checking at my local branch, they said it was at this zipcode but they couldn't find it. My branch isn't that big!! After almost 6 weeks I really complained, they said it's not here and it never was sent back ,"we don't kno where it is" So I decided to ask all the neighbors. I found it next door, outside under some wood, with plastic on top of it-they didn't want it to get wet. The neighbor never goes to that entrance to his house so he never noticed it. When I told them I found it they simply replied we had a sub that day-always an excuse- and they delivered it to the wrong address. I guess asking your packages delivered to the CORRECT address is too much of a task for someone making a little more than minimum wage-$30.xx$$$ an hr. And now the USPS needs to close another day a week to try and be competitive-down to 5 days. I try to use other company's that provide shipping services now. If they lose something-which happens,it is usually found. They can tell you where it is most anytime, which I think they should be able too-since that is there business!!!

Since we are bashing the USPS..I'll add my story.
A poster here sold me some original Hudson manuals. Shipped them with delivery confirmation.. You guessed it.. They said it was "delivered".. My local (small) PO said it had been deliverd but perhaps it was stolen off my front porch. I requested a meeting with the post master. It took a week, but got into his office and explained how no one ever sees my front porch much less goes on to it., He said his records showed it was delivered and that was all he could do.. On the way out of his office I saw a small stack of packages in the hallway against the wall. The very top box was addressed to ME! I went back to his office and asked him about it. He summoned his next in command who said "The showed that these had already been delivered so I didn't know what to do with them" I swear that was what he said. I suggested that he "deliver" them! with a few choice unprintable words. No apology just handed me the package..I wonder how long those packages were going to sit there until someone disposed of the "already delivered" mail. -

This needs to be reported to your Congressperson and the media. People need to know that stuff like this is happening. It may not happen a lot but work to at least get a new policy in place that if the computer says it was delivered and the box is still there then the Union and Managment must recognize that there is a problem with the computer system and an entery was made in error. The person making the errant entry must deliver the package within the next 12 hours....... -
Let me begin by saying this is a RANT... and I am venting... not at anyone but at the insipid thinking that people who are paid to do something will do what they are supposed to do... i.e. Deliver the package, rules regulations or threat aside.
At the core of this RANT is something I would guess most citizens of the USA have no clue about... that is the institution of a massive US government hiring program. At this time the US Government has adopted plans to dismiss most of their paid "experts"(i.e. seasoned folks who are doing the real work) working under contract to many of the US government agencies. Each of the contractors is being replaced with a GS or government servant. Yes more of the same folks being complained about here in. One agency within the DOD acquisition community will be changing 26000 folks over a two year period. In the wider scheme the replacement will not be 1 for 1 it will be 2 for 1 or 1.x for 1, in other words more folks doing less for more money. Also each of these GS folks will now receive USG benefits including retirement. The contractor employees they will replace paid for their own retirement etc. How could I know this is happening? Well I am one of those contracted "expertsâ€. This is pretty ironic to me as I made the decision to retire previous to the current administration taking office My soon to be open position is a great asset as it will soon be occupied by 2 GS folks who will share the tasks I was doing!
RANT out... headed for a happy retirement. -

Hi DLROCK, I would have thought, that if you haven't received the goods that you have paid which included shipping to your shipper in business hours,I would have thought this would be Danny's responsibility as this was included in his costings?
I know your frustration as to the time I waited to get goods as well and still didn't get everything that I ordered, but have just let it go

FYI- K-gap delivered about half of my $1,000 order today. Pretty darned good service. I placed the order only three working days ago.

Let us know when the other half comes in:cool: -
Wow boys, those glass house you all live in must be wonderful. How many of you work 12 hour days, then spend another 4-5 hours getting your house livable and still make time to send you ungratefull people parts.
We have heard and read all the unkind mostly unfounded trash that has been said about us and we felt that it was best to let it go since we are not the back stabbing people some of you are.
But maybe we should change our tactics and start listing those who break parts because they don't know how to install them and then want us to send them a new one. Which by the way we do at no cost. Or maybe we should start making a list of people who don't pay their bill or call and threaten our daughters. Or maybe we should post a list of those so called HET members who think they should get there parts faster than others and try to go around us. How about those who order the wrong parts and then complain because WE sent them the wrong part but are too cheap to send us back the wrong part after we sent them the one they needed.
How many of you are willing to put the money out for a die or mold and watch as others buy your part and them go have it made and sell it on ebay?
How many of you are willing to give up every hobby every goal every holiday every vacation to provide products to trash talking ungrateful so call HET members?
How many of you are will to invest hundreds and hundreds of thousand of dollars to provide products to ungrateful people?
Please raise your hands I want to see the masses step up.
During the next couple of weeks I will be deciding wheither I want to keep my half of the company running, because as of right now the answer is no.
Merry Christmas Gentleman
Good luck with your future Hudson needs

It's easy to be critical when your looking in from the outside. I was pleased with the service I have received from you and Dany and hope you hang in there. It's easy for people to vent over the internet. Most of these people probably wouldn't be so bold if they were talking face to face with you! People don't realize that you are at the mercy of your suppliers just like they are. Ignore the critics and have a very merry Christmas! Walt Smith

Kaylene - its always been a pleasure dealing with you , really glad Kgap is there, otherwise my Hudson restoration would be impossibe . also enjoy talking to you on the phone . Pete - out in Wyoming

Hi guys. Been a few months since I had time to look in. I am surprised the first line I read is my present problem in the Hudson world. I was at the national with " DOC" and ordered rain shields and door gaskets from Kgap. They had one heck of a time to get there in the first place, due to breakdowns and other problems. :o
I have gotten the rainshields but never the gaskets. I called them and a very nice young woman found my order and saw it was paid for, and still on back order. She said she would tell her Mom. I hope this is not a sign of things to come. I have always counted on them to have what I wanted at a fair price and it was shipped fast. I realize all good things must end, but not K-gap!!!!Please? I will call again the beginning of the year, and if there is no date for the gaskets to show up, I think I will ask for a refund. I will keep you posted.

Kaylene, there are hundres of us HET'ers that are glad you are there when we need that special part. Those of us that have been in business for ourselves know the hurt one feels when you try your best and it is not good enough for a few.
Remember the many of us who are happy and satisfied with what you have to offer. We really appreciate that you care and do your best to meet our needs. A big heart felt thank you, Kaylene and Dany, for making it possible for our dream cars to come alive.
Merry Christmas, God bless you.

Lee, I'm not one off a FEW,. I have greast respect for small business as I am one too. just concerned that over 1/2 a year, and many dollars invested, is time to be concerned and respecfully request a refund. I'm sure they understand and don't take it personally. Are they new owners??Bobbydamit -
I've never had a problem with K-Gap. This would make for good reality TV. Merry Christmas everyone!

Having never done business with K-Gap but a lot of business with various automotive vendors, I have learned that a sudden lack of communication is always a bad sign. Seldom is the outcome good when all of the sudden a vendor won't answer e-mails or phone messages in a timely manner. Emergencies do happen but that should not be the case on a regular basis. I now pay only with a CC or some type of Paypal account so funds can be re-couped if the parts or service payed for doesn't arrive. A couple of years ago I purchased a front disc brake set up for a Studebaker from a well known vendor on E-bay. It never arrived and because I payed by check, I had to take them to small claims court to get a refund. Easily won the case (even through they bald faced lied to the judge -- I had all records and cashed check, thank goodness) but then had to pay some one to collect the funds. Wound up with about 3/4 of what I had spent plus a lot of time and effort.
Lesson learned. -
Fortunately I purchased most of my KGap needs back wihen Press and Janet ran the business. They were excellent. My dad always said if you can't say anything good about a person, then don't say anything at all. As far as my recent dealings with KGAP are concerned, I have nothing to say.
-
Customers have a right to good communication especially when they have paid in advance and then they hear nothing for quite a while. That's what most of the trouble appears to be, a lack of communication from the vendor.
Of course all purchasers are not perfect either!!!! Some appear to be capable of their own poor behaviour towards vendors.
Mutual respect and honesty, can't beat that. -
I dunno....seems like everyone has now had their say on this issue, some of them numerous times. It's starting to go round and round. I'm gonna close this thread to further postings. Let's let this topic rest, at least temporarily, in the name of the Christmas, Chanukah, New Year's etc. spirit of fellowship, good will and Hudsoning.
