Source for rubber supplies? ? ?
-
On the forum here I have been reading about the trials and tribulations of KGAP, slow in delivery, not responding to calls, etc.
Is there another source for the rubbber supplies, meaning the seals for the front and rear window, doors, trunk, etc. I need all of those and I am a little nervous about using KGAP.
Any help?

I wouldn't give up on KGap. I received my order from them and it's a quality product. E-mail Dany at kgaphet@aol.com and ask what they have in stock or call Dany and Kaylene at 951-727-0607. I had no problems getting in touch with them and they were very helpfull.

There may be a few rubber / neoprene items made by Metro Molded and Steele out there, but by far the largest array is available from K-Gap. I, too, wouldn't give up on K-Gap. It's a "going concern" that may have some occasional delivery problems. You might try asking, before placing an order, which orders can be filled immediately and which will be back-ordered (and for how long). Specifically ask if the in-stock items can be shipped immediately, and the back-ordered items later. Perhaps, if everyone is clear from the get-go, there will be no misunderstandings.

From the sounds of things, it may well be that K-Gap is experiencing significant manpower issues, among other things...
I don't know how this will be 'taken' or 'received', but -
Were I in the vicinity of K-Gap, it might be an interesting and productive use of some of my spare time to offer my services to them('unskilled' as they might be)...
This might be something that could be 'broached', and if accepted & welcomed - Could be coordinated, through the local chapter(s) of the HET Club?
- Sorry, I am on the East Coast, so wouldn't be much help in any of this... :o However, if K-Gap ever opens up a warehouse on this side of the country & in my area, I'd be more than willing to assist as much as I could. -
There's a few odds and ends you can get from Steele Rubber products (not everything) but very very expensive compared to KGAP. Unless your project has to get done ASAP I'd wait before writing off KGAP.

Steele rubber does not list anything for Hudsons (according to the parts counter Manager at Steele rubber). Unless you can "adapt" the type of product you need and buy it by the foot, ie door or trunk rubber seals, Steele Rubber will be of no use to Hudson owners.
If anyone has any interchange info I would love to see it as Steele rubber is 30 minutes from my house.
Stick with K-Gap and hope for the best. -
We just called KGap about 4-5 days ago and our order arrived yesterday! Discovered they can no longer supply the stainless door handle guards for my '53 coupe. Does anyone have a pair available?

Talked with one of the kids today at KGap and they are out of stock in many rubber items because they can't get the rubber stock (they cut much of their own stuff) or the supplier is not producing the item (gaskets). It is true, apparently, that they relied on individuals to make certain items. For example, the '54 tail lenses were made by a specific person who is no longer producing them. They painted their own emblems. Because they can no longer get the services, they are discontinuing a lot of their catalog ie. lenses and certain badges, other plastic items. It might soon be really hard to find certain replacement pieces.

You can also try Metro -- select SEARCH FOR PARTS then select year, then make, then model, etc. to find what they offer for your car. http://www.metrommp.com/

Has Danny Spring contacted these people for getting the 48-54 rear window gaskets extruded again? They certainly should be able to do it. http://www.wefcorubber.com/contact_us.asp As a plus, they are in California, so its not a long distance thing.
