    Ted:
When you have a chance, please look into picture posting, picture hosting, and 'Attach Files'...

    - In the advanced area for posting threads, where one would 'Attach Files', the utility/feature does not appear to be active;

    - This particular utility, used to transfer pictures and files to the hosting area - to be added to threads in the forum, does not work any longer - http://www.classiccar.com/upload.php

Mr. Administrator - I have a question. What happened to our more or less automatic return to the same area where we choose a particular post? ? ? ? It's kind of a pain to have to page down from the top of the current page each time after we close a particular post. Hope this is all as clear as "Mud", but I think you will have an idea of what I'm trying to say here.

I'll chime in here, too. I love the new look, by the way. It's brighter and seems for cheerful. I have a question and I don't know if it's a site situation, or my personal computer situation, but some of the screens seem to be right-hand situated and I have to slide the cursor at the bottom of the screen to the left to get the picture back centered up and "on-screen". Otherwise about a third of the picture is off the screen.

It used to be if I had looked at a thread and all of it's posts, the font would be less bold. Ones that either had no new posts within' the thread or new threads altogether would be in bold font. ..:(.. I liked that feature.

EDIT: Ok, I've been messing with this a little bit. It's giving me the narrow font on threads I have viewed. (good) But, it is making the bold font on threads that I myself had just posted on. As if I had not viewed them, even though I was the last one to post. lol, you know what I'm trying to say?:D

We have worked very hard to make everything work with one login. For 90% of the items on CC, one login is all you need.

We did have some problems with the login early, but fixed that and we hope for the majority, it works. Email us if you have a problem with you login. :)

Think I get what you me. I do see your Bold font in your post. I am not sure what browser you are using, that might be why you are not seeing the bold type.

We are using style sheets to set the font type on the site. For older browsers, this can be a problem. Upgrade your browser and see if that helps. We recommend FireFox or Safari. I have used the IE 8, but that may be a good option too. They are all FREE.

Its hard to say what that might be. Make sure you are running at least 1024 resolution. We are now running the new standard screen size.

Jerry, we will look at that. We had to do some tricky code work to get the forum to integrate into this our new format. We had to tie together several application to build the new site. We have been working on the code for almost a year now. So, there are few things to still tune. In the end, it may have to be a trade off to get all the elements to work together.

Yes, that is broke right now. We encourage people to go the Motorhood section and start using the photo gallery feature. It is your own area in the website. We will have video training in about 2 weeks. But, the section allows you to have your own blog, photos, comment section, search for members that have the same cars...and lots more. :D

Just "checking in", so you can keep track of how things are working for the proletariat- I noted two of the problems mentioned (no boldface for unread posts, and not returning to where you left off on the thread list). Then I noticed I was not logged in, so I did so, at about 9:35 AM Pacific. When I came back to the board, both of the above problems had been solved! Not sure if it was just coincidence, or whether logging in "fixed" them.

I got the same problem. Screen is too big. In order to read a sentence you have to move that bottom scroll bar from left to right. :(

Was the same with the old forum. I clear my 'cookies' often (to rid myself of some that are used for tracking), and always see the same thing you've described - until I log back into the forum.

    Hi Ted,
Tried this. Apparently, it requires a login/account separate from the Forum account...
I created & activated an account for myself in the gallery (46HudsonPU), however it will not allow me to create my own album, or post pictures to existing albums. It appears to be a permissions issue, most likely associated with creating a new account (?)... Please look into it and advise, when you get a chance.

Sometimes that happens in a thread when someone posts a large picture - but your issue is most likely your display settings on your local computer.

Unless you're working on a 14-15" monitor - increasing your screen resolution to at least 1024x768 should be supported with your current video card and monitor.

If you're not sure how to change the settings let me know what Operating System you're on and I can help walk you thru the changes.

FYI - The changes to ClassicCar to 1024x may cause some issues, but the trends are moving to higher resolutions for web site viewing.

Rick, I know we have a confusion with the "Photo Gallery", which we will be closing sometime in the near future...it is not tied in to the site login system. If you go to http://classiccar.com/index.php?option=com_community&view=frontpage&Itemid=5
and login, you will find your space all ready setup. You just need to enable the photo gallery and you are all set.

    Thanks Alex,

As resolution increases and without changing to meet the new size, the content gets smaller for high resolution users. Most flat panels monitors will not go below 1028 and some not below 1280, so the need to go to the new size.

Also, we have tried to make the site brighter and easier to read. We have taken a great deal of information in to achieve the best over-all presentation.

    Hi Lee,
I checked the settings - It was set for membership only - Which meant that you needed to be a member to view. This is an area separate from the Forum membership.

I have adjusted the settings to allow anyone to view.

    Ted,

Overall I am liking the new site, and I know you are all working hard on polishing the site-up, and my following comments are not meant to be nit-picky.

I am using IE8 on a Win2k8 server OS and when I hit the site the header and thread information is right-aligned as pictured here, then when I refresh the page, or navigate off, and back it returns to left-aligned as normal.

This might be something quirky to IE8, but thought I should let you know.

The only other issues I see are a smattering of graphics images are not resolving the paths and I'm seeing the dreaded "X" instead. And the login area on the upper right is not displaying any text on the button.

Your comments are always welcome. Thanks for the kind words on the new site.

I would liken this effort to a restoration project that has gone on for too many years. We got to the point where it was better to just get it back on the road and fix the problems as we go alone.

We had a fender fall off this morning, but got it back on and now we are looking to get all the old parts back on to she is street legal again. Maybe by October we can take her to a show.

    Thanks All!!!!

Np Lee, glad to be able to put my little collection someplace that can be shared. Have been thinking of doing this for quite some time...

I have been adding additional items all day long. Take a look, you'll find some other things of interest as well...

If anyone has suggestions, additions, photos, etc., concerning HET Commercial vehicles, please email me at HETrick_clark@yahoo.com (remove the HET from the email address).

I am looking for any and all photos of Hudson Commercial Vehicles, to include prototypes as well as customs.

As you can see, I do not have many stepdown pickups shown... (hint, hint)...

Can you do something with the old obsolete area, where some previous pictures were posted? Maybe put it back, but not allow any new pictures to be added? (http://www.classiccar.com/files/)

Quite a few pictures pertaining to my previous threads/posts were hosted from there, and none of the pictures now appear in those threads... I have had a couple of inquiries concerning them, and in most cases I did not keep the photos - That, and even if I did, it would be quite difficult to go back and figure out what went where and re-attaching them...

I also have to refresh the screens quite often just to view threads and get to and respond to private messages.

My guess is the style sheet reference is not being resolved, or it's a page cache setting, but honestly I don't know PHP, just classic ASP and ASP.NET

    Ted,

I've got some more data points for you.

I dual boot my laptop so I can use Vista to play games ;)

So, I rebooted to Vista Home Premium which is still running IE7 and have none of the listed formatting or refresh issues on ClassicCar.com's forums sections.

From a programming perspective the latest Firefox and IE8 browsers are much closer in how they render web pages.

I just recently had to do a considerable amount of work re-doing layouts and javascript issues to get my www.pet-alerts.com site to render and work correctly in the newest versions of both browsers.

Even with these changes, I had to make some code branching changes for older versions of IE in the CSS styles and some javascript functions.

On this Vista/IE7 the only buttons not showing up are the Bookmarks images at the bottom of a thread, which is the same thing I see using IE8

I hope the additional information helps you track down the issues.

I am still having a problem trying to post pictures. I've gone to the motorhood site, set up my garage and have uploaded pictures there. Whilst in a "New Thread", I switch windows to the motorhood- my garage area where my pictures have been uploaded. I then right-click on the picture, switch back to my "new thread" in another open window, right click in the text area, and "Paste" is grayed out.

In FireFox, go to your gallery image, open it up the large size...not a thumbnail, and right click and select [ COPY IMAGE LOCATION ]....then in the Forum, just paste the link. I need to look at IE to see if it is the same. Back in a few.....:D
