1946 Hudson Big Boy Pickup Truck
-
A member of our chapter, who is not on the internet, asked me to post this ad for the truck that he is selling:
1946 Hudson Big Boy Pickup Truck, Bar Harbor Blue, WWW (wide white walls) 262 Cu In Hudson engine, 3 spd w/overdrive, 4:11 rear axle, radio, heater. Body off of frame restoration 9 years ago. $20,000 or best offer. (619) 390-7096.
This truck is for sale by Everett Shoemaker, HET member from San Diego area. Call Everett if you are interested. -
Good choice for a replacement engine, too. Back in the day a lot of the 46-47 trucks were fitted with just about any post-47 engine Hudson had - 232, 262, 308 and even 254 straight eights.

I got to visit with the owner of this truck 7 years ago. The workmanship is great and the truck looked super. This truck originated in Texas. Jim Guinn of Nocona sold the truck to the current owner. -
I'd like here to vouch for Everett's workmanship as I've know him well for 10 years & visited his workshop & home often.

What makes a Hudson pickup a big boy?

The term "Big Boy" is a carry over from their pre-war lineup, which included a 1/2 ton and the 3/4 ton versions of the truck. The 3/4 ton version was known as the "Big Boy".What makes a Hudson pickup a big boy?
"Big Boy" was actually dropped by post-war Hudson, and there is no literature from Hudson referring to the 1946-1947 Hudson pickups as "Big Boy".
Very nice truck. If I didn't already have my Blue Goose, I might consider this purchasing this one.
