1949 Ford F1 Pickup Rear Window
-
Hello all...my first post...looks like there is lots of info here.
I am restoring a 1949 Ford F1 Pickup. I am currently trying to install new glass into the cab with new rubber. I am having a difficult time getting the rear window with the rubber mounted on it to seat properly in the rear window. I am installing it from inside with a friend to pull on the rope from the outside. I purchased the glass from LMCTruck.com so I believe the glass is not the problem. I am using a spray on soapy water mixture to help with install.
The problem is the 2 lower corners just will not seat. Is there a shoe-horn tool or some tool that will help with this install. Thanks in advance.

No special tool--Hard to say what the problem is without seeing it I don't think anyone is gonna advise without seeing what he's giveing advice on, might break it. If you can show a pic I'm sure you will get some good advice. Bud -
Thanks for your reply Bud. I spoke to the manufacturer of the rubber seal and classiccar.com's Ted Welch. They both told me the rear window is a real pain to get in and they recommended I take it to a glass shop. I will call our local glass shop today to see if they offer mobile services. I will let you know how it comes out.
