Check previous posts ("Search" function) on this. One suggestion that looks good is replacing the vacuum motor with a 55-57 Chev auto electric motor. Looks like a relatively easy adaptation.

The only one I know about is advertised in the WTN, Delvin Albers 405-352-4745. About $250.00 Richie

I used a 57 Chevy motor with minor mods to the Hudson bracket and adapting the wiper cable attachment end. The beauty of the Chevy motor, is that the electrical switch is in the motor, so you can keep the original Hudson dash switch and cable. It's 12 volts..

    good luck.

Ivan, someone took over the business that Clay Hannah had with these. His set worked on either 6v or 12v. It is possible that the advertisement in the WTN is the one? I have a set in my 50C6 and they sure beat the vacuum ones.

Thanks all. I have a Clay Hannah in one car and I assume since Delvin Albers is also in Oklahoma that he may be the one who has picked up that job in the club. Has anyone had good luck with Albers unit?

    Ivan,

About two years ago I converted mine to the one from NewPort Engineering. I tried several times to get a hold of Delvin with no luck. Only problem I had was that they installed the cable hold on the motor 90 degrees off. I didn't notice until I couldn't get the wipers to work right. Once I figured it out I just reclocked it on the spline and it was good to go. I don't know if anyone else has had that problem.

I also have a Newport unit on my '49. No problems whatsoever. I had to send them my original pump, so they could scavenge the small cable anchors (of course, they returned the pump to me), and it was a simple bolt on after that.

Does anyone make a electric unit that would fit inside the stock vacuum pump so you get the electric pump and the stock look. I guess you could mount electric pump under the dash and leave stock vacuum pump as a dummy.

That would be one tiny pump. Have you checked with NASA? LOL

Looking at the motor on ebay its pretty small so taking out of casing and the guts pulled from the vacuum pump there may be room.
