28 Hudson Roadster

In the spirit of sharing our "rides", here is a '28 Hudson Roadster owned by Chris Davis of Charleston, Illinois. In 1928, Biddle and Smart was the body builder for all Hudson roadsters. Approximately 1100 were produced and so far as can be determined, there may be as many as 6 left today. Al Anderson of New Jersey, an old HET'er, bought this roadster in 1953. Chris bought it from Mr. Anderson in '07 and shortly thereafter, Mr. Anderson passed on. The first picture shows the car as it was in 1953 when Mr. Anderson acquired it. Notice the sealed beam headlights. The car was being used as transportation at the time. The second picture depicts the car in 1967 after Mr. Anderson had made many improvements to the old gal. Notice that the correct headlights had been installed by this time. The last two pictures show the car as it exists today in all its glory.

This car hangs right in there with many of the cars of the period that have been accorded "true classic" status IMHO. Stunning style!

I remember at the last Dearborn National there was a restored yellow one which the owner had driven up the interstates from Ohio so the big F-head Super Sixes are "runners" too as Jack Smith proved often when he'd drive one of his fleet of '29 Hudsons from Canada to National meets. -
NOW thats when Hudson built automobiles.

I'll twist his arm a little to see if he'll take it to Pontiac. Maybe I'll hold back what I owe him on the '51 cpe. until he gets it there! LOL

Dear Arkiejazz, You may or might not have read my posts of past, My name is Bud Sisto and I'm a member of the hudson club and I own a special 28 Hudson roadster I believe it's #7 known to exist. I unearthed it a year ago last November. It seems that this hudson may be LeBaron bodied. A well known (barnfind) auctioneer believed it to be authentic. I am posting pictures. I was able to get this remarkable automobile (74,000 orig. miles), running and driving after being parked for 54 years! Oh yes, it's picture is on page 114 of the book(History of Hudson).I will be trucking this beauty to the 100th anniv. meet and maybe I'll meet you too. Thanks so much for posting the pics, one of which I had not seen before. Al lived in my area and I have seen pictures of his car(eccept the first one). My friend knew him. Oh by the way this 28 is all orig. unrestored, (other than necessary to make roadworthy) Thanks again as the posts and pics of this year Hudson are almost as rare as the car.
