I will be watching, with interest - I have a '39 Hudson 112 Pickup. I would be interested in any leftover 'parts-n-pieces', for my '39...

Mine was/is in pretty sad shape as well -

Honestly, it took me almost 2 years to find one - and it is pretty rusty :(, but I think I can make it work.
Be aware - there are actually three things that are called grilles - see the above photo. Two side-grilles (actually just chrome plated pot metal, attached to the fenders), and the center grille.

Also, be advised that there are other Hudson models (91, 92, 93, 95, 97) - and the grilles are quite different and do not interchange or fit the Model 90 (112) Hudson. The Model 98 (commercial series) is very similar, and will most likey fit - If you can find one, but they are very, very rare.

Since you appear to be going for more stock 'resto-mod' look, you may be interested in obtaining all three of the 'grilles'.
If you're not too concerned with obtaining a totally original grille, some research into the other 'makes' grilles of the period may be worth exploring - It might be possible to alter them to fit (don't know), and many are reproduced and readily available.

You should consider joining the Hudson Essex Terraplane Club. The information, contacts, magazine (free advertisements - only available to members), etc., are worth the cost of membership.

In the meantime if I come across anything, I'll be sure to let you know.

    Rod N Hudson,

I agree you should join the HET club, I look forward to each issue of the White Triangle news. We have been reaping the benefits this year with the 100 year aniversary as well.

Hope to see you on the Roster.

@46HudsonPU - That truck is going to be beautiful. Do you have more pics? Where are you in the progress of getting it on the road?

I think we may attempt to repair the grill we have for now. The bottom third is trashed, but the rest is salvagable. About a year ago a 39 grille was in the Hudson Club magazine (Hud1105 let me look at his copy, he pretends he doesnt know me, most people do) it sold for nearly $800!

I will have many pics to share on the Hudson and Rods blog as well as the battle between my dad and I. He is a street rodder (you know, painted chrome, easter egg colors) and I want to go more traditional rod.

@kevin C - Do you have any pictures of your coupe? Where are you in your project.

    Thanks

The truck is under my 'Harbor Freight' garage tent, patiently awaiting restore. I am currently working on my tan '46 Hudson pickup. When I get a bit frustrated with the '46, I walk over and do something with the '39. Once in a 'Blue moon', when all else fails - I pull out the 'Blue Goose' (see avatar) and take him for a drive...

** For pictures, go to my 'little website', below -

While the '39 is 'in the wings' waiting, I am gathering parts-n-pieces for it...

Yup, it was about a year ago when that same '39 grille in the WTN magazine was mentioned to me (I believe it was Kevin C. who mentioned it to me - somehow, I had missed the advertisement). I called, and managed to get it for quite a bit less , and the seller even tossed-in the '39 Hudson engine he was selling too! :D But, in all honesty, the seller had already sold the chrome & trim that was on the grille :(, probably the reason for the reduced price. Jumped in my Toyota Tundra, and myself and a friend put in 1000+ miles during a 3-day weekend to pick it up -

But, my 'laundry list' of parts-n-pieces needed for the restoration seems to grow rather than get smaller... Oh well - Gives me something to do!

1939 Hudson 112 coupe: The Beginning.

I have just completed the next installment of 1939 Hudson 112 Coupe articles.

"The garage door screeched as it flung upward. Small dust clouds drifted into the air as the sun began to cut the darkness and the stately grillwork of a 1939 Hudson 112 coupe appeared."

story and pics continued here: http://www.hudsonandrods.blogspot.com/

About that egress/access to the trunk from the storage area behind the seats - You may find that the utility coupe initially had a slide-out bed (similiar to a pickup truck, but interior to the vehicle - it was an option), or that the only thing really missing is the panel covering the opening, as the function of the utility coupe was to carry/haul materials.
