What color would you paint my 66 Chevelle SS?
-
I have a 1966 Chevelle SS 396/325hp and am struggling with what color to paint it. It has the original engine, tranny, rear end and the body is all original GM. It underwent restoration and we found the Protect O Plate under the seat. Car was originally Lemonwood Yellow but was painted Green when I purchased it. Had my heart set on painting it Dark Shadow Grey Metallic but my restoration shop, Resto Rides out of Solon Iowa, thinks it would be better to paint it original color. I am not to partial to Lemonwood Yellow but could live with it. What is your opinion? Option 1 Original Lemonwood Yellow. Option 2 Dark Shadow Grey Metallic . Thank you for your opinion

There is not a Butternut Yellow shown for 1966. Here is the 1966 Color Chip chart: http://www.tcpglobal.com/aclchip.aspx?image=1966-chevrolet-pg01.jpg
I would rather be shot than paint anything but a rubber duck YELLOW! -
Original for value, but owner's choice! I painted a 1934 RR Sunfire yellow, a 66 Vette color, also a perfect match for RR Primrose yellow.

Thank you very much for the correction. They are both crappy colors.
Almost positive not going with the Lemonwood(rubber duck yellow). Thanks again -
Paint it what makes you happy.

Yellow. It ain't a "girl" color, plus these cars look friggin' great in yellow! Silver just makes it look like every other resto-rod or color-changes car out there.
It's your car, do what YOU want to with it."The time has come", the Walrus said, "to speak of many things. Of shoes and ships and sealing wax, of cabbages and kings. And why the sea is boiling hot,
And whether pigs have wings..." -
I'm with the your gonna live with it crowd--It's kinda like "IF MOMMA AINT HAPPY,AINT NOBODY HAPPY' When the time comes the next guy can do what ever he likes with it and color will have nothing to do with value unless it is the ORIGINAL paint job from the factory. BUD
