The white took some extra coats to cover - it has a satin finish which is fine for non-sliding but overspray would stick to it like a magnet - so I decided to put a couple coats of clear over it as well.

I've got the heat cranked up and when it dries for a couple of days - I'll need to move a bunch of stuff and finish around a 6' x 18' area of the floor to finish the "paint booth" side - so its going to yet take more time before I'm working on my cars!

it aint perfect but looks good for now!

Have you no compassion for those of us who have nothing more than a 10X20ft apartment garage to store our Hudsons in? "Ain't perfect", jeez!

This does, IMO, give us an idea of the quality of work and attention to detail you will build into your Hudsons. I'm looking forward to seeing the progress...

    Thanks all!

This is the first shop I've ever owned myself - so, believe me I can still commiserate with those currently lying in the gravel, out in the cold and rain or under a carport or tarp :D

I'm starting to get Antsy - I want to move everything so I can finish up, but really should let the floor set up a couple more days  :p

WOW, what a garage! I've had out patient surgery performed in less sanitary conditions!:D

I'm expecting some great things to come out of this work environment, so lets see some cuttin' and weldin'.;) ...Seriously though, good for you for making the effort to do all of that before you fill the garage up. It show great restraint and I for one am envious. hmm, I hope I have insulation one day.

    Nice job Dan! :)

Well, that was the plan 2 years ago when I moved in - what you don't see in the pictures is the 50 Super 6 all the crud sitting on the other 1/2 of the shop that I have a small path cleared to get to the "clean side" or the 49 sitting outside on the trailer :)

I had about 6ft of white to blend in and then I added the light grey...someday when I get ready to move I'll paint the rest of the floor light grey.

But for now that's going to be my "heavy lifting" side for welding and grinding, body work and throwing tools :D

Tomorrow night I put clear over the new "blended" area and the shop upgrade is pretty much done for this season!

With the white floor and white walls, you could rent that place out for photo shoots.

Yes, I think the 50 Super could use some extra bumps on the hood!

I'm impressed! I like how the floor is two-tone. Do you have sheetrock hung on the full wall with a chair railing? Or is that a different material below the trim?

So when do we get to break it in with beers and BBQ?

    Thanks Sarah!

The walls are 5/8 sheetrock the lower portion is using flat white colored panel board, like you'd use on showers, I wanted something covering the sheetrock that I could hose down.

So I used Liquid Nails to bond the panels to the drywall and some finishing brads on the edges, covered by the moldings. Each panel is completely sealed around the moldings as well, so I can just hose it down with impunity!

If I really start working the shop - this area will get trashed with overspray, but someday when I sell the place (to get a bigger shop) I'll just scuff it up and repaint everything including the panel board!

As soon as I need some extra hands working on the 50 Super!

...unless someone wants to come over and help me clean out the bead blaster this week while I'm waiting for the floor to dry :p

The first job up will be rebuilding the Twin-H and installing it, then the Transmission...I'm tired of pushing the darn thing around!

Nice touch to radius the corners where the white meets the grey. With that kind of attention to detail I'm anxious to see you do some metal work pretty soon.:)

Seriously, Dan, why don't you pick a time when you need some additional hands (like removing/ reinstalling said engine and transmission, etc.), and set up a work day. There are several from our area who hang out on the board, and I know I, for one, have been threatening to come up there for several years, but never seem to get around to it. We could do a potluck (or you could just spring for everything ;<). It would be a good excuse for an outing.

    thanks all !

Bent Metal - The transition actually follows the curtain path - so I wasn't being too creative :p

Mike (WA) - Hmmm, good idea - we do need to have a Northwest Hudson Forum get-together anyway! Heck - maybe I should tackle the transmission first...how much lead time do you need?

VictorZ - Rambo is doing well, thanks for asking.
I noticed a small cloudy spot on his left eye a couple of weeks ago - I'm assuming he's starting to go blind?? I take him in this week for his annual and post chemo checkup so we'll find out for sure

I'll take an old black, blind-dog over the other alternative anyday :D

Nice shop. I found that when I tiled the floor of my shop, I stopped working in it. I push the cars outside to do any work. All I do in the shop now is click on the TV, pop a top from my 50's coke machine and do a bit of assembly now and then...

Dan- Probably 2 or 3 weeks- so I can get it scheduled before my Activities Director gets me booked up with farm work! Let me know what tools I should bring.

BTW, glad you're hanging in there with Rambo. We lost our Pomeranian to a coyote a couple months ago. Could do 15 miles running alongside wife's horse in the mountains, without breaking a sweat. Forded streams by running upstream, jumping in and paddling across, drifting downstream so she landed where she was supposed to on the other side. Pretty empty around here- she was a great dog.
