Every time I enter VIN 7c211171 in a website I am told that I do not have enough numbers, but that is what is on the car I am examining. How can I check out history of that VIN#?

    Thanks

    Chris:)

Not sure if one of those "car history" sites would go back as far in years as Hudson's. Not all states kept records going back that far either. Have to remember Hudson's ceased production in 1957.

I can tell though that you have a '53 Hornet there from it. If you were lucky you could trace back history through owners or HET club registry's. and I emphasize "lucky"

VIN numbers were standardized for the US in the early 80's to a certain number of characters, the first 12 or so having a particular meaning. VIN check sites are set up for this format only.
    1953 Hornet sedan Twin-H
Custom front springs, drop-blocks out back, Clifford 6-2 headers exiting out back shotgun style, Pertronix, and Flames!

1964 Chevy C-10 Longbed, 396/TH400 lowered just enough and \"easy to touch up\" Black paint.

2003 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor
Caved in quarter and fender. Bad paint. Non-True-Trac heap. But it's paid for.

If your talking about Carfax, they can't do searches on cars built before 1981 that have less then 17 characters in the VIN.
