53' Clipper ultramatic problem
-
I just finish installing a rebuild engine and the old ultramatic transmission in my 53' but i can't get the car running. When I put the car in any gear the engine stalls. The engine starts and runs excellent but as soon as you put it in gear it dies. What can be causing this?
Prior to engine and trans removal the car was running fine and the only thing i've done to the transmission was to replace the outer gaskets and disassamble the torque converter.
My only two guesses are: 1-theres something wrong with the torque conveter or the neutral switch in the transmission is wired wrong?
Some help would be appreciated
Thanks in advance. -
My guess is that the neutral switch is so that the car only starts in neutral pr park, so it should have no bearing on your problem.
You say you " dissasembled the torque converter" ?
Have you tried asking this question to a knowledgable transmission man?
The converter would be my guess.
