Need an opinion or 2 on a '54 Dodge Coronet

    I have this '54 Coronet with the original Red Ram Hemi in it. Years ago it was drove to a garage where it was kept prior to being mine (it was left to me from my grandfather) A couple of years later I went to get it to start some minor work on it and it is seized up.



    I do know that when it was stored, it had some oil dumped down each cylinder, because I was there. But now I can't get it to break free.



    What do you guys think I can do short of disassembly to try and free it up? I have put some kroil and PB Blaster in the cyl to try and free them up, but to no avail. I don't want to put to much pressure on the crank nut to try and free it, because I don't want to break that.



    Is there a chance a lifter or something else is seized that is not letting the engine turn?



    Any help or suggestions would be great. A friend of mine is saying we should drag it down the road and pop the clutch...that just don't sound good to me. Maybe a last ditch effort...but definitely not the beginning!!

    If you have not figured it out, these engines are expensive to rebuild, but if you damage something along the way then add that to the costs... If you have the ability and the required space to work, remove the engine and do a proper teardown. You may get lucky and only need a ring set and a valve job. If your luck has run out then you will need to have a long and serious discussion with your bank account..............

    The most likely cause for your engine not turning is the probability that the rings are stuck to the cylinder walls.



    I have heard that some people have tried jumping the car with a 12 volt battery. It may give it that jolt that it needs to get it to turn. DO NOT over-do it though so you don't ruin anything.



    You could try to push start it, it shouldn't hurt anything, but again do not over-do it.



    Worse case senario would be to rremove the head and see what you can do.
