Where to get Hudson Carb rebuilt?

I'd like to get the original 1951 Carter carb rebuilt from my Hudson Hornet. I purchased a rebuild kit for it but just haven't found the time to do it myself. I want this done asap so that I can reinstall and move the car.

Can anyone recommend a company that I can trust to do a great job, send it back quickly, and send me back the exact carb that I sent in (it's the original carb), without costing and arm and a leg?

    Thanks for your advice!

I had mine rebuilt at Daytona as well, and am very happy. However, it won't be cheap (my '37 dual throat was about $250) and if you're on a budget you can probably get it done cheaper elsewhere.

What Daytona does, that is different from the normal overhaul: they don't merely install a new kit, they essentially take apart and completely rebuild the entire carb, with all new hardware. They even re-plate the metal. So, if you've had the same Hudson for 35 years as I have, and you figure that this means you'll probably hang on to it, so you might as well do the job "right" for once, then you might want to consider something like this.

Walt Mordenti is currently building my carbs for the convertible. Work is awesome and at a fair price. I'll post pics when I get them back.

    Hey Brian,

I just got a quote from Bob at www.therebuiltcarb.com about doing my Carter W1. It was a good price and suggested a 7-10 day turnaround.

He had an ad in the WTN. He also sent me this pic of a couple he recently did.
