Yep, too cool. Reminds me of the time my old man and I went to a regional Packard meet. My brainstorm comment to him:

Wow! Have you ever seen so many Packards in one place all at the same time?

Of course, he turned to me, gave me a very quizzical look by raising one eyebrow and said, "Yeah . . . at a PACKARD dealership!" Silly me. Can't help it if I was just born too late.

Matt, great pictures, thanks for sharing them. It looks as though there were some beautiful cars there this weekend. What an opportunity to see all those Hudsons together, if we can't be there though I at least get to see some pics. I'm guessing the California cars were bucking some hard headwinds coming home. We had a heck of a cold front come through today.

Ray, sorry I missed you at Laughlin. I got there later than I thought I would. Lots of nice folks to say hi to, and not nearly enough time. I fit too much in on Saturday, there was a regional AMC meet in Boulder City that we went to in the morning, and then left for Laughlin after lunch. That's Bill Brown's nice '55 Hornet pictured driving ahead of me in the desert shot.

There were lots of different Hudsons in Laughlin this year, including FOUR JETS!!!!!!

It was nice seeing everyone this year, I can't wait 'til the next one!

No, the only Hudson I brought was my '53 Jet. I thought about trailering my '50 C6, but as crowded as it was there, I'm glad I didn't. I'm not sure whose Rambler it is, but it is a "Hudson" Rambler. My Dad took a pic with the Hudson emblem on it, I'll post it tomorrow. Neat car!

Bill, my photo of your 49 didn't turn out, but your car is really sharp in person. Why buy a little foreign car when you can get 25.38mpg with a stepdown convertible?!? Nice seeing you again....

How in the **** do you get over 25 mpg out of a stepdown? That sounds like Science Fiction. I think the best I've ever gotten in the Hornet is just over 17 with a good tailwind. Is there that great a difference between the single and double carbs?

It Is Not Hard To Do With A 3:56 Rear End And Overdrive, Windows Up And 45 Psi In Tires. And A Fressh Rebuilt Engine, We Ran 40 To 55 Most Of The Way And Key Off On Long Down Hills. Li Won With Same Comb Two Years In A Row With A 53 Hh 4 Dr And Got 32.13 But At 35 Mph Mostlly

:)Hi Matt. Enjoyed the pictures, really had a great turnout. We were unable to make the trip as I am in the slow process of replacing the clutch in our '37 Terraplane.I have to pull the engine ahead about one inch to get the needed clearance to remove the transmission. Some one installed an overdrive in this car at some time and I am the lucky one to take it out years later. Hopefully we will be there next year.

A little off the subject, but in 2014 just a little over five ears from now, the Silver State Chapter is schedualed to host the Western Regional, and either Las Vegas or Laughlin look good. Any comments or ideas, I may not be the chapter president at that time but I feel it is time to start planning it. I feel there would be a much better turnout if it was held in Southern Nevada instead of Reno, Carson, or Lake Tahoe.

I got 17.8 with my car going to the All CA meet. That is with a VERY built engine. Back when it was stock on the way to the 07 Western Regional, I got 21. Almost all hwy and a steady 60-65 Mph.

The following is a picture of the same car taken a year or so ago. Shows the air inlets for the rear mounted condensor. Note if you look very closely you will also see the clear plastic tubes which come up from the rear package tray. One on right and one on the left.

Do not have under the hood pictures.

I do have a set of digital pictures of a dealer installed Hudson aircondtioning system put into a 53 Hornet sedan. The underhood installation is the same as a 55-56 Hornet with a large underdash hang on unit inside the car. A 6 volt system too.

Thanks for the picture Ken. I wasn't aware that factory installed AC was available in '54. Have never seen any reference to it in Hudson literature or service bullitins.

I remember one of my old HET buddies, Harold Jornt, had a '54 HH with that same set up. He bought it in Broken Arrow, Okla. while working on the 8-10 Cord project as I remember.

After his demise I believe he willed it to a member in the L. A. area so was wondering if this is the same car?

We could never find any factory records offering A/C so kind left us wondering if a dealer hadn't installed it later using a Hash unit?
