Rear Brake shoes
-
Hi all,
I'm looking for some assistance in identifying which Ford model that this rear brake setup was used.
I had purchased a 302, C4 trans and a rear axle which I was told came from a 1969 Fairlane. I have spoken to a few people now who say that they have never seen this type of setup and think it may have been used in th 50's.
The problem I have is that I can't get a match for the rear brake shoes to order a hardware kit.
The drums are 9 Inch and shoes 1 3/4 inch wide. All the shoes and hardware kit I can find are for the shoes which have a parking/emergency brake lever attached to them which is operated by cable.
The setup on my axle has a parking brake/emergency brake lever which goes through the back plate and attaches to one side of the wheel cylinder.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

first attached photo-- the left shoe is bottom side up -turn it edd ways --- then in that configuation the car is faceing to the right -- its been a long time but that looks like maybe a 57 or 58 brake setup--
wait --might be 52/54 -- now im confused--- its been to long -- -
btw -- the pin on the right shoe is for the parking brake lever

It looks to me like it is a dual servo (two cylinder) brake system. The 60's did not have this type of set up for Ford. Chrysler did have this set up in the 50's but the axle on your picture looks like a Ford axle.
I do believe that Ford trucks of the mid 50's had a dual servo system, maybe it's from a truck.
Also, the piece that you see in the 3rd and 4th picture is the adjuster.

Thanks guys your help is appreciated.
At first I thought that the pin on the right shoe was for the parking brake lever but it seems that the lever coming through the backplate goes through the hole at the top of the shoe on the right and this moves the shoe when parking brake is applied. If someone could confirm that for me that would be great.
It has been a nightmare trying to get a hardware kit for this setup as i cant identify a model in which it was used. I will contact the supplier again today and see if he can match me something up now I have a rough year that it was from.
Again thanks for your help.
