Nice '55 Wasp for sale

This looks like a really nice '55 Wasp for sale, but the owner has not given me a price because as he says -- he's not an antique car Guy, and has no particular passion for the car.

Yes, this is the same car, although the Guy says his name is Chris. Apparently this car is one of only four (Wasps) produced in Canada for this year, and this is one of them ( verifiable by serial #).
6cyl, 3 on the tree, 6 volt. Car is in New York.

Buy the guy a copy of Old Cars Price Guide and enjoy the look on his face when he finds out that his car is not going to sell for the prices they normally get at Barrett-Jackson. My guess is that the guy does not want to sell, just wants some postitive stroking?Brownie

OCPG is just that - a "guide". Unfortunately, it doesn't reflect reality in most cases, IMO. A car is worth what a buyer will give a seller, period. If he can get $8900 for it, more power to him. Old car price guide is not even close. Look at the prices Hudsons have been sold for on this forum alone ! (look up the '54 Hollywood) Try to buy one at their top listed price ( If You can!) and you will get a bargan ! I tried to buy a nice Hudson once and showed the seller a copy of the OCPG, and he just laughed! Most cars in the WTN are higher priced than the OCPG ! I would not go with OCPG for insurance purposes. Have an appraiser who knows Hudsons give a correct value, like Bill Albright, John Soneff and others. In the December Hemmings there is a flyer for the Raleigh classic auction. Has a couple of Hudsons listed, which are not high end models. Lets see what they sell for!

I certainly agree with you Nevada, even Hemmings don't seem to have a grasp of the differnece between a Hudson and (say a Studebaker, or a Rambler).
Seems if you haven't clued in to what a Hudson really is, -- its just another independant that went defunct like those "others", and virtually everyone on this forum knows full well Hudson does not, and never will fit in that pile.
Guess we've just gotta get out there more often and "wake up" some more car Guys. I know from experience showing my cars that some people are just blown away by what they didn't know about Hudsons when they were out there on the road with all those other choices. Lots of women too, have a new appreciation for these cars when they see one gleaming in the sunlight, including my wife, who has become as hard-core as I about these cars, now that she knows the difference. Its lots of fun at a car show, watching her "educate" the Guys about Hudsons when I'm taking a break under the umbrella with a cool one.
Little by little, one car nut at a time, we'll get the word out, hopefully !!

LOL, Jay's real name is Harold, but I know he's got a couple of brothers. Who knows which one is selling what? Maybe they're playing the shell game, hiding the beast in each other's garage to keep the wimmin guessing. There's also a Hornet in there someplace.

OCPG lists this car in number one condition at $16,500. Based on the comments of folks here on line, it is in that kind of condition and that is just about double of what you list in your quote. By the way, I would have to think long and hard before I would pay $16,500. for a 4-door Wasp. As you say, it is a guide.
