Jet Arm Rests / Door Handles
-
I've seen two different versions of how the arm rests are installed on the doors of Jets. One is molded into the door panel. The other is seperate. From what I can tell, it doesn't seem to be dictated by year or model. Is one more correct than the other? Why this variance? I know it's a rather trivial detail, but I'm curious.

Sara - the above doors are correct. The fabric covered doors were all done as above. The vinyl coverd doors are all done as the red & white one above. Apparantly the vinyl would not mold to the contour as the fabric does when the armrest is completely covered as in the blue door above.

I can't believe that didn't occur to me. Thanks Jerry.Take a Ride in a Hudson Jet!

I had a couple arm rests missing from my car. Rather than taking them off a parts car, I chose to make all new ones out of plywood and wood. There are two 3/4" pieces with a cutout for fingers and then another two 3/4" pieces without cutout and a solid chunk of wood on the bottom that I glued together. After drying, the excess wood was taken off by a belt sander. You'd never know, eh?
