I'm new here
-
Hello everyone....I'm usually a Ford guy, who bought some 50s Mopars and now I bought a Hudson...so I'm pretty open to new things. I have a friend who is Hudson nuts and he always tried to convert me. I just bought a 52 Wasp Club Coupe. Hasn't run since 63. I just unloaded it today and haven't had a chance to clean it out or check it out,,,but I can see that they were a very fancy car, and from what little I know about Hudson,,,this was nowhere near the top of the line. Everyone thinks the 49-51 Mercs were so good looking. This looks similar, but I think, much better. Anyway,,,when I get a chance, I will click some pictures and put them here.

Congratulations on Your first Hudson! May you have many more. I think, You will find this the friendliest car club forum around, as well as the most active. I suggest you join the HET club and a local chapter. Your Hudson friend can steer you in the right direction.

Start collecting a large pile of rocks. You'll need them when you start getting into Hudsons and throwing stones at the other stuff. LOL Welcome to the World of Hudsons!

Welcome, Highpockets! If you are intent on keeping this car you may want to join the Hudson club, an invaluable resource and clearinghouse for parts, technical information and fellow owners. It's on the web at http://www.hudsonclub.org/ . Once you have joined, you can also opt to join your local chapter, if there is one in your area.
Before you do anything else, be sure to carefully inspect the perimeter frame of your car, from the rear wheel wells back. If your car was properly cared for this should not be a problem, but it is the Achilles Hell of Hudsons, and if there is extensive rust there, you may want to know this before you start investing in upholstery, engine work, chrome, paint, etc. This isn't meant to scare you, and frame rust is not inevitable. But a careful inspection of the frame is really Priority Number One when is looking to buy, or has just acquired, a Hudson of the Step-Down era. -
Congrats. When you get 'er running, she'll serve you well. Plenty of power and super handling.
New engine parts and gaskets are available from Dale Cooper, rubber parts from KGap, Electrical and fuel pumps from Dave Kostansek etc. All advertise in the WTN, (White Triangle News).
Plus there's a $2000 incentive to get her on the road and drive it to a National meet from Bill Albright. (09 in Pontiac MI) Since we don't have judging, they'll pick your name out of a hat, hopefully. Happened to me at my first National in Pitt, PA
And we'll all help ya.

Welcome to Hudson'in
You are now in the midst of the folks who have kept this independant automobile make alive since it stopped making cars for sale in 1957. This BBS attracts a large crowd of knowledgeable as well as new to Hudson folk. To jump start you knowledge of the Hudson Stepdown... that is what you now own... check out Ken Cates's Hudson Stepdown Restoration Page. There you will find information focused on bringing your 52 Wasp back from it's long sleep. Included on the page is information which will allow you to do a through and detailed inspection of your car's mechanical and frame health.
Good Luck and return often with your questions and progress storys. -
