Torino Questions
-
Considering the purchase of a 1970 or 1971 Torino.
1. I dont see any "formal roofs" for the year 1970 & 1971, was there any, or were they a type of "sports roof" hybrid?
2. Besides the date of manufacture, what is the difference between a 1970 & 1971 Torino?
3. Who would anyone suggest in the San Diego area for parts?
Any info would help.
Thanks,
DeM -

I believe the Torino's did not have anything on the roof, i.e. vinyl or padded.
The 1971 Torino also had a Torino 500. 1970 did not have the Torino 500 but had the Fairlane 500 and the Fairlane was dropped in 1971.
Torino's for 1971 were 1970 cars with updated trim and a revised grille.
Torino Brougham, GT and Cobra were pretty much the same car for both years.

Both 1970 and 71 Torino's offered formal roofs. The Brougham models are an example of that. Vinyl roofs were available on the formal roof models. -
Thanks for the info Dave. I've never seen a Torino with a formal roof. If you have any photos, I would be interested in seeing this.
It's good to have people around with the correct info.

Ron,
You're welcome. Here's a 1970 example. Vinyl roofs were available on 2dr and 4dr models and were especially popular on the Torino Brougham models. Also, there was even a sport "Halo" addition that had paint/tape stripes on the roof, between the vinyl roof and drip moldings. What can I say, it was the 70's.
