Door arm rests
-
I am redoing the interior on the '53 Superwasp sedan and I am looking for replacement arm rests for the doors. I would like to use the arm rests from a 52 sedan a since the it would be easier to make the door panels and screw these on. Does anyone have 4 arms rests in good condition for sale or can anyone recommend reproductions from another car line? I was considering ones from a '67 mustang or 52-53 ford.
Thanks,
Rich -
The armrests on my 49 are screwed together. I took them apart, cleaned up the foam, derusted and painted the metal, cleaned the plastic and the screws, got some good-looking vinyl at Jo-Anns fabric store and using 3M spray adhesive, put them back together. They look and work great.

Recently there have been several NOS Hudson arm rests of the variety used in your car auctioned on eBay.

I just replaced the ones on my 52 sedan. I have a pair of back arm rests you are welcome to have (you would need to pay $20 and the shipping costs) they need to be recovered and painted but they are complete. Bill Albright out in Fontana California has several sets of both front and back. They are a bit spendy today, but not that scarce. The fronts are much smaller and different from than the back. Send me an email at brownie.petersen@atk.com if you want the set that I have.
