What is it worth to YOU?
-
Hey folks,
I recently had my 77 Camaro at the shop to have a new window regulator installed (the original finally gave out and i was too busy to do it myself) and as i was picking it up a guy stops to look at it and says, "why are you putting money into that thing? It'll never be worth anything." and I couldn't help but feel alittle put off. I may be young but I am far from a fool. I know that the 1977 was far from special. If I was doing this to make money, I would be scraping rust off of a first gen shell planning a 5 or 6 year project, I just wanted something I could work on, drive and enjoy. My grandfather had a 77, and he loved it. He used to tell me all of the little facts about it: the last year of the metal bumper, the returning year of the Z28, the first year Camaros outsold Mustangs (ha!) and how Mario Andretti had even had one. These memories are worth alot to me and I love my car, Im just curious to see if anyone else thinks that the experience might outweigh the money alittle bit. I pulled mine out of a salvage yard, the feeling I got as I slowly brought it back to life was priceless.
Basically I just wanted to see if anybody agrees with me, that money isnt the only reason to restore a car. -
