I have a 1969 mustang rag top ,302 ,2 barrel , 53,000 original miles automatic my first car sat for a year and now I can`t start it. I had rebuilt the carb, new fuel sending unit, new fuel pump, it will run if I pour gas down the carb. then stall. Is old gas 1 year old a big deal ? Thanks Miserable mustang

what do you have the air/fuel needles set at-??

if the gas is just 1 year it should still run --you have a carb problem-

did you set the floatbowls ??

do you have gas comeing to the carb from the tank??

Hi Rich I already changed the fuel filter , did what you said and yes I have gas in the bottle ! I know here comes the hard part . My Dad did all my carb work and he passed away, and I`m limited to what I can do as I have had 4 eye operations , I really appreciate people like you who take the time helping out ! Thanks

ok got gas to carb-- either the jets are clogged--or the floats are set wrong ---i would suggest you have a mech take carb apart and dry set the floats -- then after you start car -set air / fuel mixture and idle -- also after you have it running - check timing

i would also suggest -- go into your profile and put where your from -- never know someone may live close to you that can help or suggest a mech to look at your car

Hi Rich we just got done with the carb and you were right the needle was stuck , my mechanic friend used compressed air in the fuel filter inlet and worked it for 15 minutes must have freed it from the dirt , its now purring ! what would you suggest to add to the gas to avoid gum up for someone who doesn`t drive his car ? I use to start my cars once a month should I start them more often , I know the best medicine is to drive it ! Thanks, 69 mustang
