carbs used on the 212 splasher
-
hello, i just got a note from ron at daytone parts advising the carter WA-1 454S carb was used on the 175 cu in engine. my car, a 212, has been running this carb since dave kostansek sent it to me several years ago. what later carb corresponds to the carter 1 1/4" throat used on the sedan deluxe in '35? regards, tom

okay, now i'm worried. i am repling to my own posts...(do i hear little voices too?? do i answer little voices??) anyway, i am a slow study and it finally occurred to me that the hollanders on my shelf may have another use besides dust collecter. it does show the WA-1 454S for the '35 212 splasher. regards, tom

ok, i would like more info. another note from ron at daytona parts advises the hollanders only suggests those components FIT, not that they will work properly or are compatible with that vehicle. he said i will damage my engine if i continue to run the carb. this seems a little dramatic to me. dave kostansik sent me this carb a few years ago and according to the tail pipe and plugs, seems to be working fine. (the only problem i have had with the carb was fixed when i found the pin hole in the fuel tank pick up..LOL!) any thoughts? regards, tom alex, i see your post, i will check your site..thank you. tp

I find that alittle hard to believe that you would damage your engine using that carb?

Walt Mordenti here. If you have the 35 Terraplane special it takes a Carter W-1 311s. The deluxe and Hudson six take a Carter W-! 309s. In checking jets and metering rods with that 454 you had to be running rich. That carb is for the 232 engine.hello, i just got a note from ron at daytone parts advising the carter WA-1 454S carb was used on the 175 cu in engine. my car, a 212, has been running this carb since dave kostansek sent it to me several years ago. what later carb corresponds to the carter 1 1/4" throat used on the sedan deluxe in '35? regards, tom -
