69 Camaro Project in Portugal, Europe
-
Hi,
I have $4000 to start a 69 Camaro Project. I am from Portugal in Europe so the car has to be shipped here and I have $1000 to do that.
What I need is some help and info from you guys because I know really little about Camaros but I like them alot and I really want to have one here in Portugal.
So here are the questions:
1. For $4000 what can I get? I would like to have a 69 SS Big Block so in what shape would it probably be for that price?
2. What are the essential parts besides the body that it should have when I buy it so I can restore it here in Portugal?
3. Please feel free to give me any other information or tips.
Hope you can help me!
Nuno, from Portugal. -
As for a 69 Camaro, I doubt that you can get anything that is not going to need a lot of work let alone with a big block in it for that kind of money.
Check Hemmings, E-bay and auto trader for what is out there and what people are tying to get for their cars.
I wish you all the best of luck with finding one but I am under the assumption that it will cost you more then $1,000.00 to ship it from the U.S.A. to you, but I am not sure about that.
You can also check with the guys on chevytalk.com and then go to the Camaro boards to gather information and a possible find.

You will be lucky to get a rolling shell of a car for $4,000, much less spending $1,000 on shipping. I've shipped cars to and from Europe, and the cheapest I've ever got was from Oklahoma TO Bremen, Germany, and that cost $1,100 - in 1992!!! Double that figure these days.
A real '69 Camaro SS big-block car, running and in decent condition, will cost you at least $75,000 USD. A clone will still cost you a great deal of money, at least ten times what you have.
Sorry to say so, but that car is NOT anywhere in your price range. Four thousand dollars will find you a decent four-door American '60s to early '70s car, and you would still look at a minimum of $1,200 to ship from a US port...probably more since Lisbon is not a common shipping destination."The time has come", the Walrus said, "to speak of many things. Of shoes and ships and sealing wax, of cabbages and kings. And why the sea is boiling hot,
And whether pigs have wings..."
