Dodge D100 Oil Filter
-
:confused:I am in process of restoring a 1957 315 cid poly head Dodge D100. The engine does not have an oil filter (apparently a factory option?). Can anyone tell me if the engine had a cartridge style filter like the 6 cyl. mounted on the firewall or a screw on type on the block? I need to put a filter on the engine but am really confused as to which part to look for. The owners manual shows what I think if a ghost of a screw on but I have not been able to locate a good picture of the 315 to verify.
Thanks,
Rich -
Your 315 uses a cartridge style filter. The 'can' mounts to an aluminum base which is attached to the block. Stock parts are available, cartridges are available although a bit spendy. There are multiple styles of spin-on adapters available as well as remote packages. Look for a listing for any of the early Hemi engines.
