Check out the 1939 Hudson Hornett. I had heard rumors of this 39 Hornet coupe but could never prove them.......

Almost as rare as a 1953 4dr. Hornet coupe.

You got me all excited about this '39 Hornet coupe [as I am a '39 man who's never heard of a '39 Hornet], only to find a garden variety '48. You got me!!!

All kidding aside, I don't think that those rear fenders are quite ready to be scrapped. You should note, however, "rusty" to a Kentuckian is "not all that bad" to a Minnesotan.

The listing is changed now. It's a '48 Hornett (thats Hornett with two "t"s) Still quite rare, though. Must be a prototype.

I sent him a message that it was a '48 or '49 Super Six- guess he believed me on the year, but still wants to work that "Hornett" angle. Good marketing, if you ask me.

Seems most neophites call any "Hudson" stepdown (or otherwise) a "Hudson Hornet". Just happened to me yesterday evening while in my 48 Commodore.

That's a "must restore" - you know what it is??? Read Kerouac's On the Road - that's the '48 Hornet Dean and Sal drove into the ground running across the country and back. LOL

If anybody is interested in it, I can check it out for you. I work in Louisville, and I think I know where it is at.

I think we have the movie CARS to thank for that- I've had 4 year olds point to my '48 and say "Fabilus Hudson Hornet!":D

I guess somebody told him that the hornets started in 51, cause that's how it's listed now.

How would you feel if you bought A 51 Hornet coupe off E-bay to find out you really bought a 48 SS?
    1953 Hornet sedan Twin-H
Custom front springs, drop-blocks out back, Clifford 6-2 headers exiting out back shotgun style, Pertronix, and Flames!

1964 Chevy C-10 Longbed, 396/TH400 lowered just enough and \"easy to touch up\" Black paint.

2003 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor
Caved in quarter and fender. Bad paint. Non-True-Trac heap. But it's paid for.

:eek:I have been asked several times about my '49 Hudson "Hornet". When I try to explain that my car is a '49 Super 6, and the Hornet came out two years later, it falls on deaf ears. When I am out with my '37 Terraplane, it has been refered to as an old ford or cheviy. These automobile "experts" frighten me with thier vast knowlwdge. Have a great weekend. Arnie

Took the 'Plane out the other day to wash it and drive it a bit. I was at a light and a guy was hanging out of the car next to me, saying "Nice Packard you have there!"...now I've never known a '37 to be remotely confused with a Packard, but at least it wasn't a Ford or Chevy this time! I just said "Thanks!", smiled and waved, and went on.
"The time has come", the Walrus said, "to speak of many things. Of shoes and ships and sealing wax, of cabbages and kings. And why the sea is boiling hot,
    And whether pigs have wings..."
