58 Ford 2 barrel...won't idle at normal speed
-
sounds like you have a vacume leak-
also -what do you have the points set at??-- -
ok -- does your engine have a double action fuel pump-- the top half is a vac pump it runs the wipers-- --check the hoses-- un hook hose and hold finger over the knozzle-- se if it idles-
have you recently set the valves- [may be have a couple to tight -
is the lifters clattering?[lack of oil] or valve adjustment.
tell me what you have done to this motor - and when it started to not idle-- is this an auto-or standard trans-- if auto check vac modulator valve on trans and its hoses.
it should be a ford 2 speed trans-- more later -
so what did you find out -- ???
-
those y block were good engines-- the prob they had was -theres a right angle in the oil gally to the rockers--its in the head face---when it carbons up -no oil to the rockers-- --then they clatter -- - if you need any help just post --
course you could put a FE in it --390 428-427- crits makes motor mounts so its a bolt il-- -
390 and a C4 -- surprize a lot of people--
btw--a 289 and fmx is a direct bolt in --
