    re: 58 Ford Fairlane 292ci.

I must keep the idle speed way up high or it will stall out.

    Thanks for any advice.

    Rich,

I'll have to check the points this evening.

I did have to replace a vacuum tube, so maybe I should check that out.

    Thanks.

ok -- does your engine have a double action fuel pump-- the top half is a vac pump it runs the wipers-- --check the hoses-- un hook hose and hold finger over the knozzle-- se if it idles-

have you recently set the valves- [may be have a couple to tight -

is the lifters clattering?[lack of oil] or valve adjustment.

tell me what you have done to this motor - and when it started to not idle-- is this an auto-or standard trans-- if auto check vac modulator valve on trans and its hoses.

it should be a ford 2 speed trans-- more later

    Rich,

    I'll check the hoses tonight.

    Have not adjusted the valve.

    No clattering.

    Rich,

Haven't been able to do much yet. Just re-sealed the driveway. So the 58 was land-locked for a few days.

    Rich,

Walnuts in the muffler. No joke. The car sat for 2-3 years before I got it. And apparently rodents were storing walnuts in the muffler. Great improvement from changing muffler and tailpipe. Thanks.
