Had to Move some Toys to get a New One
-
I decided to get rid of a pinball and foosball game I had collected (Still have my T2 pinball though!) and used the proceeds and a little extra to get this

It's 1966 Chevrolet C50, 327, 4speed w/2-speed axel.
I've got an 1-1/4 acres and need to haul in gravel for my road and also have retaining wall projects planned for the lower yard and pond.
With the price of fuel these days the last time I had 10 yards of 5/8 minus delivered (12 mile round trip for the hauler) the bill was $398.00 and $110.00 of it was the delivery fee - yikes :mad:
With the amount of work and materials I'll need, I'll pay for the truck before I'm done using it..and besides how cool is it to finally own my own full size (well, non-CDL) Tonka Truck

i love the fact that you can justify every single "impulse" buy like this that you have.
p.s. how fun are big trucks when you dont have to drive them for a living -

LOL
My 1949 Hudson WAS a complete "impulse" buy - about 1:00AM surfing ebay to be exact
didn't know anything about the cars - only that it looked like a merc but was cheaper!
With my first house I was able to borrow my buddies backhoe and dump truck to rehab the yard. I don't have access to that equipment because of distances now.
So I've been on the hunt for a reasonably priced dump truck for about 6 months, but it hasn't been until recently that the prices have started to move down on some of these rigs - and this one happended to be close-by and cheap!
I want to fix some "Exxon Valdeze" type leaks on the truck and just make sure it starts and stops!
The next big-boy toy on the list (which has been on the back burner for well over a year) is a 50+ hp diesel tractor and/or backhoe with a PTO and loader!
The key thing about buying this type of equipment is that I plan on using it to rehab this property and then when I sell in a couple of years, I'll move on and use the equipment on the next property. -
Nice truck Wes!
My grandpa was a commerical truck driver, he used to take us in the Summers along with him hauling beer and apples to Eastern Washington.
I'll never forget running out first thing in the morning with the flat spots in the tires shaking the truck to all get out until they warmed up and smoothed out!
Lot's of great memories from back then... -
I'm an ex owner operater. They say them trucks gets in your blood. Well when I gave it up at 68 yrs of age first thing I did was get me a transfusion !! You're right about the little dump tho Dan, I had a one ton, handy as could be for those little jobs, and let it go, been kickin my butt ever since . Bud

Dan, I manage an equipment rental yard and do a lot of deliveries so I have an International Rollback for deliveries, a Freightliner 5yd dump for materials and all the loaders, backhoes, trenchers and tractors to drive a man could want. It's like a little kid getting a job at a toy store. I won't get rich working this job but it has it's rewards. Oh yeah, I use the rollback whenever I need to move a car that isn't running. Now if I had a reason to have a 49C6 in the yard life would be perfect.

Dan, you need to get over on www.stovebolt.com with that cool dump truck. You probably know I'm also a Mopar guy, but have always liked pre-'73 GM trucks, too. I'm looking for something like that for myself!"The time has come", the Walrus said, "to speak of many things. Of shoes and ships and sealing wax, of cabbages and kings. And why the sea is boiling hot,
And whether pigs have wings..." -
