Rambo's Update and the Super 6

    Hello All!

    Rambo Dog

Rambo seems to be doing ok, we've got the stiches out from the surgeries now and his first week of chemo therapy under his belt.

Although, chemo for dogs is no-where near as dibilitating as the nasty stuff humans get he us on a 6 month cocktail of Pregnisone (steroid), Lukeran (human cancer drug) and believe it or not Pepcid ~ it does have an affect on his thirst and appetite. He's drinking at least 4-5x more water a day and it all has to come out somewhere ;)

    50 Super 6

It looks like my initial outlay of cash for Rambo's treatment is going to manageble - so I've decided to re-adjust my plans again get the 50 Super 6 running for this summer:D

So, I went out in the shop a couple of nights ago and was getting the 50 situated to put up on jackstands and remove the wheels and tires to do start the work on the front disc brakes.

You all know the old drill... get the floor jack... kneel down on the hard concrete (if you're lucky)... stand on your head to find a decent jack point on the front of a step down that will allow you to put 2 jackstands simultaneously under the front (I usually use a piece of wood and "gingerly" jack it on the front carriage/centerpin cover - yikes!)...

Anway, I get the front jacked up and grab the 2-ton stands I use, when I was wrangling them in under the front sub-frame I felt my lower back tweak a little - grrrrrrr

SO - later that evening - nursing my sore lower back, I visited my local Craigslist again and located a Snap-on mid-rise scissor-lift like pictured here - but slightly used!

Ends up the guy is only about 5 miles from my house, so I boogied over there at 9:30 PM on FRiday night - looked it over and said, I'll be here Saturday morning to pick it up!
I'd prefer a 2 or 4 post - commercial shop lift, but this is a neat alternative and is somewhat "portable"
This will lift 6000 lbs so the Hudsons should site really well on this unit, it's no good for transmissions or clutches...I'll still be wallowing on the floor like a beached whale for those jobs  - but for brakes, body-work, painting and such this lift will be perfect.

Dan, Good to hear Rambo is doing better. Also good to hear your plans for the car have changed. The only problem I see with that lift is, it's not on my garage. LOL

Yes, Ditto on Rambos progress, good to hear. I just put my Pridemore kit on last weekend. After a lot of grinding on the tops of the calipers, everything is working great. Good luck with the new lift!
