I am having a problem with my flat head i just bought it.
its a 47 59AB v8 Flathead engine. I have put in new spark plugs, and new carb, Started right up. when i get onto the street i only have about 5 min then the engine will cutt out and start to miss as i give the pedel gas. I let of the pedel and it will idel for a bit, then it will just shut off. The temp is fine half ways. the fuel bowl is full, I am going to get a new fuel pump thinking that its its not pumping what is needed. Has anyone else hd this problem? ifso How did you fix it and what was the cause.
    Thanks for help.

It sounds like the engine is fuelstarved. You may be getting air in the fuel line too. Unfortunately, there are a host of reasons for the engine to cut off. If you've been workin on the engine, the distributor may not be set up right either. These are things that I've had problems with, so I hope it points you in the right direction.

Sounds like a coil problem. Did you check the spark when it runs? Gotta find out if it has fuel and fire before you can go to the next step. Good Luck.

I would check the fuel line pressure. If this vehicle is new
to you check if there is an electrical fuel pump in there,
somewhere, these system can't handle more than about 5lbs
fuel pressure. If its over that have your carb. checked.
