I recall a thread a few years ago of someone putting a Ford 2.50 ratio rear axle in a Hydra-Matic equipped stepdown. I believe it was from a later model Crown Victoria if memory serves me correctly, although I didn't turn up anything on a search. Does anyone remember the specifics on this? Thanks.

    FYI

A lot discussion lately on rear ends. I suggest go up to St Rod Section then go down to 'Parting out a 51 by Ray'. Open that Thread then go down 5 or 6 Posts and you will find a Rear End 'Link' that gives widths, ratios etc of many rear ends...2.50 would be like an OD in your Hydro but may bog on hills. Stock was 3.08 which was good all around use, I like Ford Rears and they have a 3.00 ratio and many widths.

Jasper Kleinjahn, think it was him. He was complaining about the Hydra 1st being only good for about 10 mph before shifting up. So he said he put a Ford 9" with a ratio near 2.5:1 in his '52 Hornet Coupe.
