Rambo's Update: II
-
After the 1st surgery he's been eating like a horse - 2x a day - when normally I only feed him 1x...then yesterday he just turned his nose up at the food I made him and didn't eat at all.
I was concerned only because he didn't eat - not because of his behavior - so this morning I made him some more food with grated cheese on top...still didn't eat it...so I boiled some lean hamburger and mixed that in - he scarfed it down like he hadn't eaten in a week - not 1 day...oh and he did get treats that 1 day too!
I just started laughing because that tells me he's just feeling better and getting back to his ol' spoiled behavior - most of the time I just put warm water in the dry food and mix it up, but he gets tired of the same food over and over and then I need to add something to it...cottage cheese, grated cheese for a day or so...oh yeah - he won't drink room temperature water either...it has to be fresh cold water from the tap or fridge!
Don't get me off base - I have always fed him a hi-performance diet that has 30-40% protein and 30-40% fat w/ very little carbs 20-40% on average.
This freaks alot of people out as the average dog foods are running Low Protien (<20%) , Low Fat (<20%) and High carbs (>60%)... but he doesn't have an ounce of fat on him and most people don't think he looks or acts like he's 8 years old.
Here's some new pictures...thought I'd better chronicle this chapter of his life as well.
I HATES this thing!
Where's the Kitty?
(note the wagging tail!)

my old man fed his dog close to what you are feeding rambo and he lived to be a ripe old 16. many would pay him a compliment and it was warranted because arthur was a magnificent dog - dalmation X labrador, black coat just like rambos too, except a few grey spots where the damation tried to come through.

Hi Rambo,
Glad to see you up and about! Sounds like Dan is treating you well! Hang in there!
