How do I identify a dodge rearend......?

An 8-3/4" Mopar rear looks a lot like a Ford 9". One the pumpkin, you'll see a seven-digit number, with 741, 742, 452, or a couple others as the last three. Plus, you'll see an insignia that looks like this, cast into the third member (pumpkin):
