Lifter Noise Rebuilt 360
-
I have a rebuilt 1984 360 did 3 separate 15 minute run ins at setting of 2000 rpm. using 5 20 oil pressure is 35 have annoying lifter noise one only on number one cylinder raised back of car to ensure oil flow no difference removed valve cover at idle hit number one rocker lifter side no difference. Did I not wait long enough for run in. I do not want to tear down for one lifter. Any help or suggestions.appreciated

Would appear that you have one bogus lifter...are you assured that the set was of USA origin? There is alot of 'off-shore' crap finding its way onto the parts shelves and alot of damaged rebuilds because of it.

Are you sure that it's a lifter? You should be able to pin point it with the valve covers off.

Lifter noise gone! removed valve covers and valve train then using magnetic probe was able to pull the offending lifter through the push rod hole in the head. Lifter was totally stuck and would not take oil. Pretty bad for a new lifter with 30 mins use. Any way replaced with new and noise is gone.
