Saturday I took the Super Jet to the Henderson Days parade and car show. The Jet did great during the parade, no overheating at all. Lots of comments from the kids - "Look at the Hudson 'Hornet'"!!!

Out of about 150 cars, my Jet and a '64 Studebaker were the only non GM, Ford and Chrysler cars there.

My car is somewhat showable at this point. And yeah, "Hornet" is the only name people remember, so I get that too.

There's an old car club that meets and parks on a weekly basis somewhere here in the SF Bay area. Anyone know how to contact them or where they are?

I went to a show in Terrell Texas. There were about 75+ cars there. No Hudsons whatsoever. Wish mine was ready. Maybe next year.

Mine will never be ready but I went anyway. I will never get mine into show condition but I felt okay at the cruise night, there were quite a few cars that were in worse condition than mine. Take it out and have fun with it.

I was at one on Saturday, once again the only Hudson. Had lots of people tell me that they did not know that Hudson made pickups.

Drove my Jet to work Friday, stopped to get some coffee, and the guy that works there said, Nice FORD! So i explained. Said he never new Hudson made a small car.

Barry, I always get the question " Who made Hudsons ?". One thing I noticed at the cruise night I went to was how few young people, teenagers, were actually there. Lots of people my age, 50's and 60's, some in their 40's, but very few teens or people in their twenties unless they were with the parents. Tuners are the cars of the new generation but I am starting to notice a trend of young males driving american made cars almost like muscle cars. Still mostly GM, Ford are Mopar but that's the only choices they have now. If they want to get a hot car they have to buy asian or german made to be able to afford them. We need to keep these old timers out their if we want the next generation to try to preserve them when we're gone.

As some of you know by now is that I also own some Crosley's. There is a neighbor boy that is 14, (will be 15 in June) is totally in love with my Crosley's, And all old cars. I took him to our national meet in Ohio last year, he is really hooked now, He has joined the national club, plus our regional club. All he talks about is his first Crosley that he is going to get.

The club is going to give him that chance, they are going to give him a restorable Crosley, and with my help and the clubs help he will be soon driving one. So there are some young people out there that still likes our generation of cars. I think all you have to do is just give them a chance and show them some things about the car and I think you can get them hooked.

I went to a PCS Show last weekend (Proffessional Car Society). It was just for vehicles like hearses, flower cars, ambulances and police cars, as well as fire trucks. It was hosted at the Triple X Root Beer Drive-in, which is the last location left of that franchise. There's a TON of memorabilia inside to look at! Here's a couple pics I snapped. Not Hudson, but still neat.

We went to the annual KaTO Hudson meet which was held in Duncan, Oklahoma. Our meet was co-incident with a local car show which attracted 200-300 entries, both cars and motorcycles. There were 13 or 14 Hudsons in amongst all the muscle cars, rat rods and full classics. The best of show went to a beautifully original '51 Hornet which was locally owned. I fielded lots of questions and was soundly thanked by many of the other marque participants.

Thanks for the compliment. I was a fan of Toro Red before I got my Jet, but the green interior with the red is an acquired taste. I wonder if the colorful interiors that Hudson provided with the premium 1953 cars helped or hurt sales.

The skirts didn't make it on, I forgot them in my garage along with my camera's memory card, although my cell phone took a decent pic of the car.

Took my 54 Hornet Special sedan to a cruise-in last weekend. It was the only Hudson there but there were a lot of different makes there. Everything from a New Corvette, to a Studebaker p/u, to a 20's something rat rod with a Hemi in it and no roof panel! Had a great time and lots of people looking the Hudson over. She is not a show car but she attracts attention where ever I drive her.

Some dude: "Man, these cars are so heavy!"

Me: "Actually, it's only about 4000 lbs empty."

Dude: "Oh, really? Well that's because it's got the 6 in it. The V8 was the heavy motor."

Flustered Dude: "Where did they get thier engines for NASCAR?"

Me (pointing under hood): "That's it."

Confused, flustered dude: "Didn't know it was legal to use a 6 cylinder in NASCAR."

Me: "Yep, won a lot of races too"

Dude's bored girlfriend: "Can we go now?"

Dude walks away shaking his head with the occasional glance back.

Also I get, "How long have you owned it?"

"8 years"

"How old are you?"

(surprised look) "Where did you get it?"

"Bought it from my grandfather"

"Well, don't ever sell it. I remember a car I had.....(enter reminescent drivel here), and now I wish I still had it."

I was sitting at a light the other day when a guy in a 61 Buick Electra pulled along side and asked if I wanted to race for pinks. I had to decline because I have too many cars now. His car was pretty nice, looked like original paint and upholstery. I don't think I saw it at the cruise night but it should have been there.

Hey Harry,

The Riverside "Show and Go" is the first weekend in May. It runs Friday night, all day Saturday, and Sunday. They cut off registration at 1000 cars, usually Sat morning around 10am. It's kind of a mini Route 66 Rendezvous. Fewer cars, more crusin'. It would be great to have another Hudson out, even if it is a Hash!

No "works in progress" ? Haven't you seen my car? It will be a "work in progress" for decades to come. It will take me that long just to replace all the rusted pieces.

Seriously, most of the cars at this show are drivers, not show pieces. You will fit right in with the rest of us.

Even if you don't participate, come on out and go cruisin in my Hudson.

The Southern California Chapter will be going to the Coastal Valleys C.H.V.A. 19th Annual Spring "Fun" Car Show this Sunday, April 27th. We will meet at the Pavilion supermarket parking lot on the corner of Ventura Blvd and Kester Ave in Sherman Oaks between 8:15 and 8:45 AM for coffee & donuts before varavanning to the Sherman Oaks Galleria at 9:00 AM.
