New Tools!
-
Well, ok "new" tools -

Here's the Snap-On bead blaster I just got delivered today. My buddy owns a bodyshop and doesn't use the thing very often so I asked him If I could "borrow" it for awhile!
I forgot how big the thing is - I see a whole flurry of Hudson parts going thru this thing very soon!

-
Hey Dan,
Good for you! Have fun with it!

One could try to make some extra cash - 'cept, do remember it's Snap-On which = $$...the tips for the internal gun are 70-80.00 each  - and this is not a pressurized system either, it's basically a big siphon tube-feed into the hopper.
They just replaced the jet inside the handle of the gun which should re-align the glass bead stream so it doesn't wear out the tips so fast.
I was thinking of buying a Cheapo HF gun for 20.00 with replaceable ceramic tips to see how it works, since I can buy the ceramic tips for pennies on the dollar compared to the Snap-On.
Now, I need a parts washer.... -
I've used the "Cyclone" brand from MSC. Their guns and tips are much more reasonably priced. Maybe worth looking into.
Good score on the blaster. I always thought one could do well with a part time small scale powder coating business. -
TIP is reasonably priced and have cabinets on sale at any of the big shows.

I always forget about TIP - I got a pressurized TIP 99 unit with my Devilbiss Compressor, I haven't had an occaison to want to get dirty though and test it out

You will really enjoy using the blaster. Have had mine for several years now and don't know what I would do without it. I've used several different types of abrasives for different tasks and have been pleased with all. You may want to get some of the clear sheets that go over the viewing window on the inside to prevent damage to the viewing window. Nothing is worse than not being able to see what you are blasting. Have had to replace my window twice now. Usually buy plexi at Lowes or HD and cut it to size. Cheaper than buying from the manufacturer. Have also used auto buffing compound to "resurface" a glazed window. Remember to clean the filter bag regularly to ensure a good view in the cabinet and prevent overheating the vacuum motor.

Not on the scale of your blast cabinet, but I picked up an electric impact gun from Harbour Freight yesterday. $36.99 + tax. I used one years ago and just caught this one on sale and couldn't turn it down. 7 amp, 120 V, 240 ft-lb torque, 1/2 in drive.

I have the 99 also. TIP no longer sells these pressure blasters, but there's another outfit where you can buy those large ceramic tips. They run about $30 for 3. Even with the hooded faceshield you do get sand all over. I use it with a large Devilbiss compressor on a 120 gallon horizontal storage tank.
