    Here is some information....

thank you for your interest. i have pictures which i am waiting for my son (the computer geek) to help me access and include in my emails.....my hudson is 1950 stepdown 4 dr, sky blue, in "pretty good" condition, great running when everything is put together. last year we pulled everything out so we could install a newly purchased custom wiring harnass, and it still sits gutless in the driveway. if you know Al Saffrahn, hudson club member, he did most of the restoration work on many parts over the last 12 years that i have owned it. and lots of supplies from KGap, and other club busineses. the body is in really great condition, except for a small part (about the size of a man's fist) of "bubbling" rust on the front passngr side of the hood. inside front floor pan needs fixing--rusted out holes in sections--your foot wont break thru, but it does need repair. headliner is good but whoever installed it (befor i got it) did a quickee with the piping which was a sloppy job. original seat covers are preserved under blue naugahide, back seat is clean and really good condition but front seat cover needs to be replaced/drivers side is torn. no parts are missing, fuel sender never worked properly--restored the original but still not work right; speedo resotred, mileage/i have to look that up . if anyone wants a classic that is guaranteed to get attention on the road and off, this is the one to have. after looking at some junker hudsons & mercs for sale at crazy prices, i could get more than 8 thousand, and it certainly could sell for 30 thou or more when fully restored, which doesnt require much more. i was offered 10 thou when it was running but i was not interested in selling at the time. of course, everyone thinks their classis is worth more, but everyone who sees and has driven/or been a passenger in this car leaves with unforgetable memories! i have never seen a classic get as much attention as this car! this one looks like the mercurys that the lowriders love to have. the thing is, right now i have all the parts in boxes spread around the house and garage...dont want to store them in the car so as not to attract breakins...so far no one has bothered it since it looks like it is parked waiting for a drive. everything works on the dash, clock is hand wind, interior/exterior lights work, whitewalls, brakes done about 10yrs ago. i honestly dont know how i am going to go about selling this car, since my family doesnt want people coming onto the property at all hours of the day and night to look at my car, im not sure how to go about this selling business!! this is probably frustrating for you because i want to sell it but i dont know what the next safe step is. so im open to suggestions. i will email you as soon as my son gets the photos available. again thanks for your interest. sometimes the unplanned buy/sell opportunity works best. this would be someone's lucky find like it was mine when i first got it.

Does it quote a price anywhere? I can't figure out how much she wants for the car.

The way that note went on that lady should be selling a rambler.

After I read thru that "note" I was thinking this one might be pricey.... I would figure that if this thing is around 7K, it should be running, and a lot nicer. It sounds like this one is 2-4K tops, and that would be if it actually has minor issues, and is all there, and can be put together. I hope it gets a good home, and someone can fix it up, make a nice car.... time will tell.

I would like to go see it but I don't want to waste a day off just to see someones pie in the sky dream. If the floor is rusted a little? what about everything else.

For a Pacemaker SEDAN not even a Deluxe 50A. ... I never seeen one go for more than $8K and that was selling price... that one probably went for less. I love the short wheel base cars but they're generally not as loved... don't have the glamour of their 124" WB cousins.

They're the base model Hudson and people stilll drive the tires off em to this day. hehe.

I love the short Wheelbase cars too, but if you're going to sink lots of $$$ in a restoration, it better be a Hornet or Commodore. $30K when put together and finished....Better be a convertible. Someone with $30k to spend is not looking for a Pacemaker sedan. If this was a coupe...in the condition stated....the 8K is a stretch! (my opinion!)

    I have asked for pictures.

How can y'all tell this is a shorty wheel base from her description?

Is the Deluxe (50A) longer than the "regular" 4-door sedan?

Nope the 50A Deluxe model can be identified by the VIN plate and has the same 119" wheelbase as a standard Pacemaker but more trim and more options/goodies. Many were fitted with round white backup lights/park lamps too. A step up from your base model Pacemaker but not so expensive as a Super 6.... Probably most expensive Pacemaker you could've bought in 1950 would've been a Pacemaker Deluxe Convertible fully optioned.

Hudson tried to offer a less expensive car because they were generally in Buick's sales Territory. (Upper middle price class) You could argue that they should've move upmarket but the company always tried to offer more affordable models in their lineup, from the Essex, to the Terraplane, to the Pacemaker, to the Jet.

Agree with you Hudson Dad.... for most restorers if you're gonna dump a ton of money into a proper restoration might as well be a C6- C 8 or Hornet..and keep the Pacemaker around as a runner... mechanically fine but no museum piece. ... There's those of us who have grown to have an affinity for the short-wheelbase cars though.

One quick way to tell a Pacemaker Deluxe is look at the divider between the front door vent window and the window - that will be bright on the Deluxe 50A and will be black on the model 500 Pacemaker standard. The Deluxe will also have front door arm rests, while the standard just had pull straps on the front doors.

Update....She just sent me a link to the pictures. It is in a none running, disassembled state. Not all engine pieces are shown as "with the car."

I asked her what her asking price is.

$8,000 and the buyer pays for shipping or transportation. yes, i have all the parts, nothing is missing, except that most everything has been removed. also, i thought the photo of the front hood was better, i wanted to show the damage done by some "bubble" rusting (i don't know what it is called) so if needed i can take more fotos, also there is a little rust on the skirts. also, all the manuals and hudson magazines go with the car.

No pictures of the rear where the rusting issues typically appear. The floorboards seen appear to be solid, with little/no rust evident.
Corners of hood have obvious rust through (although 'covered'), so there is probably rust elsewhere.

$8,000? Doubtful, even if it was assembled and running. In the condition it is in, I would say $2-3k, at the most.

    Great minds think alike... ;)

Oh, and that comment that the seller made about doing the teardown to do a 'rewiring' job doesn't 'fly' either, with the amount of disassembly seen. Nobody I know tears down an engine, removes chrome, the wiper assembly, etc., etc., to install a new wiring harness...

I was going to type some smart alecky remark about her asking price then I reminded myself that if I couldn't say something nice I shouldn't say anything. Then I came to my senses and realized if I waited to only write nice things my typing skills would be lost so I'm replying anyway. Have we gotten to the point where we think a kit car that is a long ways from being road ready is worth $2K ? I hope not. In my mind a $2 to $3K car should be at least drivable unless it is something really rare and desireable. As parts it worth more but she is trying to sell the whole kit and kaboodle without making any effort other than saying it's for sale and it's your problem once you've bought it. That's not the car for me.

I own a 50A Pacemaker Deluxe and another one of the distinguishing features of the "Deluxe" is a white three spoke steering wheel which I have on mine. My car also has a non functioning Supermatic complete with a "Supermatic" chrome plate on the trunk. I wasn't aware that the regular '50 Pacemaker lacked front door arm rests.
