On Page 71 of the MAY 2007 Hemmings Motor News, I found an advertisement for the DICK CLARK'S AMERICAN BANDSTAND THEATER, which features in its museum "...every American made make and model of 1957 convertibles." The ad gives the museum's street address (1600 W. Hwy 76) but does not say what city the museum is located. Okay, now the question:

The ad shows an automobile, a red convertible, which clearly has a 1957 Chevrolet front end and body but with what appears to be a 1957 Cadillac Eldorado rear end with fins and stainless bottom trim. The auto is viewed from right front quarter in the ad, so I can't see the rear except from the side. Does anybody know about this car? What is it? It is Chevy in front but Cadillac in the back. Any help appreciated. TonyM.

They were called an El Morocco. They were produced in 1956 and 1957. Check out www.57heaven.com and you can see examples of both a hardtop and convertible '57 versions. They weren't factory produced but farmed out by GM and then sold through Chevrolet dealers. I personally think they weren't as pretty as the Chevy or Cadillac either one.
